"There's no way you're from California if you hate the sun so much," Mateo took a giant bite of his burger. Melvin made the first thing that he could think of after his shower. Burgers were the easiest out of what he had.
"Do you see how pale I am?" Melvin tossed him a napkin. The juices from the burger were dripping down his chin. It was obvious that he was a sloppy eater. Melvin just couldn't tell if he enjoyed just how messy he got, or was still riding off the high that happened the night before.
"You could get a tan, you know," he continued to scarf down his food. "This burger is great, by the way."
"I can't tan. The sun hates me," he answered, motioning to the napkin. "Wipe your face. You're making a mess."
"Not my fault you made it so juicy," Mateo smirked. "Maybe you can clean it off for me?"
Those green eyes were teasing him playfully. Melvin didn't realize just how powerful a hold they had on him, even over something silly like this. He was glad to see them playful rather than the fear they had earlier that night. Melvin was sure the man was still bothered about his house. He would be too. That was one of the worst roofs he had ben under in the middle of a storm.
"You want to be babied that much?" He gave him a sly smile back. He swore this man could find anyway to turn the conversation back to them. He couldn't say he wasn't enjoying it.
"I mean," Mateo looked up towards the ceiling before his eyes hit him again. "It wouldn't be babying if you licked it off me."
"You work out a lot," Melvin looked down at his food. "Right?"
"What does that have to do with this?" Mateo looked so confused. Melvin loved doing that to him. It showed him just how innocent the man was to all of this.
"You should know better than to exercise right after eating," he told him. "You have to wait thirty minutes, remember?"
"I can handle a stomach ache," Mateo told him, not skipping a beat.
"You just took a shower," Melvin shook his head. It was hilarious seeing him act like this. He had been with many people in his short life, but no one had been so upfront about wanting him. The language of love was a game, and he always played it strategically. Mateo, however, was like a puppy that followed people he wanted around.
He supposed it was better than the asshole he was before. Melvin was quickly learning to enjoy this version of the man. Any ounce of attention and he was putty in Melvin's arms. And, with just how gorgeous he looked with his hand around his neck, the teasing was only making his appetite grow.
But they couldn't that night. He still had things to take care of with his business. They were doing okay with the storm, the doors still open to the few who dared to brave the rain. But he already heard that their AC Unit broke. Melvin just hoped that the place would be okay for a shift. In the morning was when a lot of the problems could get fixed. He was going to have to make some phone calls.
He also knew that Mateo needed to make some phone calls, considering the state of that beach house they had to leave it in. He could only imagine how much worse it got.
"You're no fun," Mateo pouted.
"We wouldn't have enough time for me to have my fun with you," Melvin wiped his mouth, grabbing their plates. "It's already almost morning."
As soon as he said 'fun' he knew he got the man's attention. It was like that word held electricity in it. One glimpse at those emerald eyes and he could tell just how much the man wanted it. He wished he could give it to him. If that storm didn't come, then he was sure they would have spent the entire day forgetting the outside world existed.
