"Yes!" Benny cheered, putting his arms up as he sat on the ground. "Yes! This is exactly everything I expected it to be!"

"It's not too often that Mel gets into that mood," Cameron watched the television screen. "I'm surprised Mateo was able to get him out of it."

"That's because they were the best match, and this," Benny gestured towards the screen. "Just made everything we all had to go through worth it."

They were in the normal break room at this point, enjoying the use of one of the big screens that they had there. Will had gotten the idea of setting it up like a movie theater again, and had even grabbed some popcorn for them all. It was meant to be a fun way to relax after dealing with one of their clients almost dying on them.

Then Mel's dad called him, and Benny was still thinking about ways to get the anticupids to go after him. That was just horrible, to put your kid through something like that. Sure, he wasn't abusive to his wife or anything, but hurting your kid like this should still be deserving of revenge.

They were glued to the screen during that, some of them even yelling at it. Velvet had gotten so into it, Benny thought she was going to fly down there to stop the man himself. It was horrible to see him spiral down like that. It was worse seeing him try to push Mateo away. They had worked so hard to get the two of them together.

Well, technically all they did was shoot an arrow, but still! It certainly felt like a lot of work when they were so focused on the couple. Things moved so slow for them at first, and then, just like lightning, they sped up their relationship. And now the fire was started and they weren't ever going to get it to go away.

Or, that's what Benny had been hoping for at least. He had thought they had this in the bag after that. There was no way these two were ever going to have a fight about anything by the end of that health scare. They were both joined to each other, and they both looked so happy when they were together.

Then this disaster happened.

"Has he really spiraled like this before?" Sarah asked Cameron. It didn't really seem like his character. While Melvin obviously wasn't the innocent type, he didn't seem like the person who tried to push people away.

"Not this bad," Cameron shook their head. "But there's been plenty of times when he's gotten depressed and smoked, talking about how he didn't care about it killing him."

It was sad to think about, especially after all the battles Cameron had watched the man fight and win. Depression was the hardest thing to overcome, and Cameron had helped so many people through it. When something happened to make it worse, though, it brought out the bad sides of everyone.

"I think this might be the best match up you guys have done, honestly," Obasi smiled at the television screen. "I didn't think that these two were going to be a permanent couple, but I think this just proved me wrong."

Their job was to match people, but it didn't mean that they were supposed to find the person to stay with their clients for the rest of their lives. Obasi thought these two would help each other get through some stages of their lives, but he had no clue that it was going to ever get this far. It sure had been a wild ride.

"They were meant for each other," Will smiled as he looked at the two lovers holding each other. Mateo had somehow convinced him to take a shower and warm up. Now they were just holding each other in bed. "Mateo had been through something similar to what Mel just did."

"He did?" Justin furrowed his brow. "When the hell were you going to tell us that?"

"It's kinda in his profile," Benny gave the mint eyed cupid a guilty smile. "He was chosen as a Last Chance case because he had a habit of pushing people away to hurt himself. That's what started the whole idea of dating someone to get something from them."

"Where in his file was this?" Obasi looked at Benny and Will. "Because I've read that file, and I didn't even see that."

"Wait," Will pulled the file out, flipping through it. Then he looked over to Benny. "Was it in his file, or did Cas tell us that?"

"Why would she know more than what he had in his file?" Benny asked.

"Because things get taken from files all the time," Will answered, still flipping through it. How could he have missed that extra piece of information. "I could have sworn I remembered that from somewhere, though. That was why I thought Anton was perfect for him, because he wouldn't let him just have a fling and be done with it, and Mateo was too stubborn to not try and go after him."

"That stubbornness seemed to work for Melvin," Cameron walked over to Will. "It doesn't matter anyway, Will. You don't have to keep looking."

"Well, now it's bugging me," Will told him honestly. "I could have sworn it was...ah hah!" He pulled out a paper from the file, then he slowly pulled it as the paper turned into two separate sheets. "That's where it is! It had been hidden this whole time!"

"I would say to remind me to ask you guys for a background of your cases beforehand," Justin rolled his eyes. "But knowing you two, you would still manage to forget something until the very end."

"We didn't exactly forget about it," Benny told him. "We just forgot that you guys didn't know."

"Velvet," Cameron looked over towards the red head. She had control of the remote, and had been rewinding to the rain scene a few times. "Are you alright? You haven't said anything in a while."

"Yeah," she sniffed. "I'm alright."

"Aww," Sarah tried not to chuckle. "Are you crying?"

"Absolutely not," Velvet wiped her eyes gently, so as to not smear her makeup. "This eyeliner is just horrible for my eyes right now. I need to get some new ones. I bet it's expired or something."

"We don't usually have expired makeup," Cameron told her, putting a hand on her shoulder. "It's alright to cry, Velvet."

"I know, Sweety," she patted his hand. "I just..." She looked back to the television screen. "I don't think I've seen such a perfect display of love, even if it was first shown through anger."

"So," Mateo pulled him towards the house. "You're going to stop thinking about smoking, get back in the house and stop beating yourself up because there are plenty of people that love you, and he doesn't deserve your love anyway!"

Velvet wished she had someone tell her that when she was mortal. It was hard to reassure yourself sometimes, especially when it comes to family issues. Mateo saying that just spoke to her, reminding her of all the hard times she had to go through. It felt like he had gone through something similar, too. After all, people didn't just make a statement like that out of the blue without there being some reason for it.

"I love you too," Melvin hugged him. "More than I've ever loved anything in my life."

"You were right, Benny," Will got closer to the television screen, rewatching as the two made up from their fight easily. "This definitely makes it worth it."

"Oh yeah," the blond nodded. "I mean, they quite literally had all of us worried that they wouldn't work out at first, then that Melvin was going to die. We had to go through all these hoops just to get the two to even live with each other, and then go through the wild card of Melvin's dad. But this point right here," he motioned his head towards the screen again. "Makes everything that we had to deal with worth it."

"I agree," Cameron said. "Although I don't ever want to go through it again."

"I don't think you will," Will chuckled. "Everything is going to turn out just fine."

Through all the pains that came from matching people, and all the failures that cupids had in their career, helping even one person find happiness and love was worth it.

And that was exactly why he loved his job.
