"How hilarious," The man gave a low chuckle that sent shivers down his spine. "You're getting aroused by this."
It wasn't like he wanted to. Mateo wanted nothing other than to be out of that room and away from that place for the rest of his life. He never wanted to see it again. He didn't even care about Anton at that point. Mateo had lost that battle. He knew that there was no going back.
Even if that crushed him a little too.
He was lost. So, incredibly lost now. All he seemed to do was mull over the events that took place from the moment he stepped foot in that city. He made so many mistakes. They shouldn't have kept trying for that café, for one. There were other businesses around that they could have really tried to go for. He was sure that bakery girl would have been easy. Everyone was a sucker for his looks.
"It's a shame no one's brought you to your knees like this."
Why the Hell was he still thinking about all of this? He spent so much time just staring up at the ceiling of his motel room.
He had downgraded a lot since a month ago. Hotel fees were expensive, and he didn't want to use up all of his savings before he figured out what else to do. He stopped working for his old company. They were taking too much from his commissions anyway. It wasn't worth it. Right now, his main source of income was the stock market. He checked that for a few hours before going back to sulking. It wasn't much income. But if he got lucky, it might get him that beach house he always wanted. He had saved up quite a lot, but it wasn't enough to live off from for the rest of his life.
A part of him didn't even want to work anymore. He hated work. And he hated how crummy he was feeling just because of it. Mateo wasn't trying to force anyone to sign anything. It was his job. That's all he was trying to do! The relationships were just the icing on the cake.
Somehow, that made him feel worse.
Mateo rubbed his face and rolled out of bed. He needed to get out of this godforsaken city. There were too many shitty memories. He needed to find a cheap place to buy where he could just be comfortable in. He could mellow out there for a few years. Then when his funds were running low, he would try and find work afterwards. It wasn't the smartest decision, but it didn't matter. All that mattered was that he was far away from here.
He opened up his laptop and quickly started looking for cheap houses to buy. Renting was ever changing. Owning was always better. Even if it was just a small beach house. He could rent it out when he needed money. That was always a good investment.
Huh. Maybe he should have gotten into that kind of business.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me!" He almost slammed his laptop shut. Of course, the place with the best deals for beach houses was Amor.
Okay. What if he looked out of the state? He was hoping to stay in Florida at least, so he didn't have to waste any money on a plane ticket, but he guessed he could handle the extra expense.
He swore, he could go on the hunt for hours and he still wouldn't get anywhere. It still felt like the best offer were the houses in Amor. The beaches were gorgeous too. There were still cheaper ones out there, but they had countless problems that Mateo didn't want to deal with.
And here he thought buying a house would be easy.
Mateo shut his laptop for now, deciding to go for a walk instead. The motel was close to the downtown area, but he didn't dare go by that café. The last thing he needed was that turtleneck freak trying to fuck with him again just because he wanted some damn coffee.
