He was finally not sick.
Finally.
It felt like it had been ages, but Melvin was glad that it was all over. Now he just had some work to catch up on, and some positions to hire for, and all would be well. They had finally finished their busy season, so he could lessen up on some worker's shifts if they wanted some extra time off. There had been a few doing overtime just because of how many customers they had. And with Melvin gone, he was sure that things had only gotten more hectic.
It always happened whenever he took time away from this place.
"Do you have to stay here?" Mateo asked, sitting on the couch in Melvin's office. "Can't you just take your laptop home and work from there?"
"I don't like bringing work home," Melvin told him, glancing up for only a moment to see those bright green eyes once more. "Why? Would you rather I tie you up while I'm here?"
"Knowing you, that wouldn't even go anywhere," Mateo pouted. "You would just tease me into oblivion."
"You can't always have it your way," he chuckled, before moving his gaze back to his work. "You also don't always have to come here with me."
"I want to come with."
"I'm not going to smoke if I'm away from you, Mat," Melvin told him. It had been over a week since he quit, and the craving hadn't gone away for it, but he wasn't going to give in. It had gotten worse, as this was the longest he had gone without a cigarette. The longest he had gone was a week, and the last time was also because he was sick. Melvin didn't like the thought of how difficult it was going to be to stop craving them, but he wouldn't touch a single one anymore. He had already promised Mateo that he wouldn't.
And Melvin never went back on his promises.
Hands went on his shoulders, massaging the knots that had already formed. Melvin couldn't help but smile at the man's touch. He craved it more than anything in his life. He leaned his head back in his chair, feeling the faint sensation of lips against his.
"That's not the reason I want to be around you all the time," Mateo told him, only moving himself away just enough to talk before pressing his lips against Melvin's. It was relaxing to have someone do this to him. It made Melvin all the more eager to see just where that night would take them. It was noon right then, and Melvin was planning on enjoying every once of energy he now had on this man.
"You make a compelling argument," Melvin reached up to that gorgeous face. "But I still have to run a few errands before getting home."
"Like what?" Mateo groaned, resting his head on Melvin's shoulder as his hands immediately spread to touch his torso. They were sneaky enough to manage to even get under Melvin's shirt. It was setting his body on fire.
"Like groceries," he answered, trying to stay focused. "Since the food in the fridge has probably gone bad at this point. And then gas, and a few other things."
"That sounds so boring."
"It is," Melvin chuckled. "But we need to get food into the house somehow. And you aren't going to be living off from fast food the rest of your life."
That was one interesting thing that he had learned about Mateo. The man had been frugal with his money, and yet he spent so much of it on fast food. It was a waste, but Melvin supposed that was normal for people who didn't know how to cook.
"Can't we do that tomorrow?" Mateo asked, his nose teasing Melvin's neck. He was somehow able to get under his turtleneck after a few nudges. The sensations from that were going to drive him absolutely feral.
