"Four hours!" Benny's jaw almost dropped to the floor. "There's no way that's possible! Like, not humanly possible at least!"
"Welcome to our world honey," Velvet smiled at him. "BDSM focuses on pushing you past your limit sexually. And Melvin loves pushing both himself and others past their limits. Which is how he can do that for so long."
"Man," Benny rubbed his jaw. "My jaw hurts just thinking about that."
"You should have been alive when I was a mortal," Obasi shook his head. "Some of those soldiers did not hold anything back."
"My boyfriend passed out from me doing that to him only once," Benny told them. "Each and every time. And that was great for me, because my jaw would have killed me if I tried to do that more than one time in a row."
"That just means that you were good at it," Velvet shrugged. "I wish I could meet this boyfriend of yours, though. He sounds like a sweetheart."
"He's still alive," Benny told her. "I mean, he's much older now, but he's happily married."
"Oh, I'm sorry, sweety."
"Don't be," Benny waved it off. "I'm just glad he didn't get AIDS. That was scaring everyone back when I was alive." He was glad that the guy was able to move on, honestly. He knew that he loved Benny a lot, but he didn't want him to stop loving in general just because he was gone. They were in their twenties when Benny died. He would rather the man move on and spend the rest of his life happy rather than mourning the rest of his life.
He still visited Benny's family too.
"I remember when that first came up," Will frowned. "That was the toughest time to make same sex matches."
"The undergrounds were interesting though," Obasi said. "Actually, I'm pretty sure there was an underground gay club in the twenties, too."
"I wouldn't know anything about that," Will shrugged. "My kind of parties were always the speakeasies of the aristocrats."
"Oh, I wish I could have been to those parties," Velvet put a hand to her heart. "The closest thing I got to it was the Gatsby themed prom night that my high school had."
"It was a blast," Will smiled, reminiscing. "But every party can be a great memory. I could probably put together a party that's themed to those speakeasies, too if you ever want."
"You'll have to invite me if you ever do," Velvet chuckled. She didn't keep up with the gossip that the rest of the cupids had, but everyone knew Will. The fact that Mr. Eros had gone up to him on multiple occasions showed that he was somewhat favorable with him.
She wondered what her boss thought of him. She hadn't seen him in a while, but she would have to ask the next time she did.
"So," Sarah grabbed one of the cookies that was on the counter. "Does this mean that these two are in a relationship now?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Justin asked. He was so glad that they had changed the subject. Listening to Benny talk about...that...made his skin itch. He didn't ever want to think of the cartoonish blond cupid that always acted cute, like he did anything like...that.
"You'd be surprised," Sarah told him.
"I mean," Benny said. "They could be close to a relationship. They're opening up to each other more."
"Love isn't linear," Velvet told Justin, trying to keep him as comfortable as possible. "There's a lot of back and forth when it comes to relationships. They also have to admit to themselves that it could be serious. I don't know much about Mateo, but I know that Melvin is going to take a while before he admits it to anyone, let alone himself."
