"There has to be another way," Cameron frowned. "I don't want to mess with his business. It's important to him."
"But we can't get them to really stay close if Melvin's time is going to be spent at work," Benny argued. "If Mateo is really going to get over Anton, then he's going to need Melvin."
"I really wish therapy was an option," Justin rolled his eyes and shook his head. This was getting complicated, and that was never good with their cases.
He was originally down in the city to work on his case. Nox was slowly starting to learn his lesson, but it was way too late for any remorse on the anticupid's side. The only one who felt bad for the guy was his mom. Mothers had the most forgiving hearts sometimes.
While he was taking care of that, he managed to catch the argument that Mateo and Lucas had on a deserted street. It wasn't good, and Mateo was fuming. Justin didn't realize just how crazy the drama with friends could be.
Then again, he didn't really have many friends until he started working here.
Speaking of friends, that was how Justin bumped into the rambunctious cupids. They had come down here to do something with their case. Justin still didn't understand how they got away with this stuff half the time. He was pretty sure they weren't allowed to do anything with this case other than watch the chaos, yet here they were, trying to form a plan.
"Therapy is always a good option," Will put a hand on the anticupid's shoulder. "But there are many times when it's not wanted, or can afford."
"I wish we could punish governments," he groaned. Then he looked at the cupid next to him. "You know love isn't always the answer for therapy though, right?"
"You're talking to someone who never had his own love," Obasi stopped Will from talking, elbowing him.
"In the end, we aren't in the profession to be therapists," Will told Justin, ignoring his friend's jests. "Of course, love can help many, and heal some wounds, but not all. We just help them with what we can."
That was the cupid mission, after all. They might not be able to perform miracles of health, but they could spread some love around. All it took was a little and it could help someone in a big way.
"I just don't think that you should have Mateo solely rely on Melvin for help," Justin said. He was kind of hoping that Mateo and Lucas would be able to regain their friendship, just so the man had someone else to talk to. He looked lonely most of the time, without someone to really talk about all the stuff that was happening.
"Well," Cameron said. "It's not like we're trying to take away the importance of friends. But Mateo might not be that willing to get close to people right now. He might be untrusting of everyone. That could easily be why it's taking so long for him to accept his feelings for Melvin."
"I'm pretty sure he's accepted his feelings now," Obasi said. "Honestly, I'm wondering when Melvin is going to open up a little. Work could be distracting him a little too much."
They hadn't been watching too much of what was on the television screen, but they did see him talk with Anton. That was when they found out that he might put more work on his shoulders. Obasi had a feeling that Melvin was more of a work-a-holic than he came off as.
It was nice to see Melvin and Anton talk though. It wasn't too often that he saw cousins that were close. They both looked so different too, just like night and day.
"Melvin hasn't been distracted by work," Cameron shook their head. "Trust me. If he was, then he wouldn't be getting sleep. If anything, I'd say that he's just as obsessed with Mateo as Mateo is of him."
