Yua comes from a single parent household where her and her mom don't have much money. One of the reasons they don't have much money is because her mom can't keep a good job since she's an alcoholic. She has been for Yua's whole life. Yua was born when her mom was twenty three and still in college, so she had to drop out to take care of her newborn daughter.
Yua's mom wasn't prepared to be a parent, so she just drank all her problems away. So Yua had to learn to take care of herself at a very young age. She had a problem making friends at school but she still managed and eventually joined a swim club as a teenager.

Preteen: As a preteen Yua wore a white shirt with a pink starfish on the front, a black skirt, black socks with white stars, light pink converse and her blue X hairpin.
Currently: Yua usually wears a white and pink long sleeved shirt with small green stars on it, black leggings, white converse and her usual blue X hairpin. She also wears the Iwatobi school uniform.
Swimsuit: Yua's swimsuit is a light purple two piece with a long sleeved top, it has black accents.
