Alchemist Known Name: The Stray Cat Alchemist Birthplace: Ishval
Personality: On first meeting, Ishtar flaunts a formal, stern, calculated and blunt personality. Unafraid to speak her own thoughts, Ishtar is not one to care for pleasing another person, she considers all who come into her path as either a helpful resource to guide her to success, or a hindrance that must be "taken care of". Though appearing ready to resort to violence, she does so without expressing anger, and chooses to suppress it. As her character arc continues throughout the show, Ishtar slowly begins to express more empathetic behavior. Her apathetic and overtly cold attitude reworks into a more gentle, but still calculating presentation of herself. Her appreciation for life grows more, beginning in the Rush Valley arc with the birth of a baby. Likes: Ishtar has a special relationship with things that survive long in harsh conditions, such as; cacti, desert flowers, lizards, animals who live in the cold, pine trees, etc. her adoration for both tropical and plains fruits is apparent, her love of melon is quite obvious, and she seeks it out any time she finds herself in a market. Secretly, Ishtar has a great enjoyment of Amestrian sweets, since they are much sweeter and more versatile than that of Ishval. Background: A child born in the desert region of Ishval, Ishtar was given the name of a minor deity of survival in a forgotten, pagan religion. Her birth occurred in the middle of the Ishvalan civil war, the result of an Amestrian soldier forcing himself onto a young Ishvalan woman. Ishtar's mother, despite giving birth alone in a war-stricken country, survived long enough to see her child grow into a pre-teen, as both of them were able to live to see the war end, and Ishval reduced to a fragment of it's glory. Consequently, small seeds of Ishtar's anger had been planted into her young mind, growing with each day. Every day, she dedicated herself to learning the ways of "alchemy", the scientific practice that the Amestrian soldiers had used during the slaughter of her people. Her mother nurtured her daughter's rage, pouring sneering comments into her ear, speaking of what horrific things the Amestrian peoples had done to the children of Ishvala. Years passed as Ishtar's hate grew, as her planning for vengeance was forced into action. Leaving in the middle of the night for the Central City of Amestris, Ishtar traveled as a teen, working simple repair jobs for her own money, though still sleeping in alleys. On the side, she herself sought out to destroy the state alchemists from the inside... Four kills related to her were blamed on a man named Scar. Extra Information; She met Ed completely on accident, as she heard of him through rumors spreading through the military and by the common people. She planned to execute him, but instead, she chose to instead follow along on his journey.
