Background:
Celeste grew up in a very poor family in Shiganshina, they struggled to afford the basic necessities, like food and water. But they were all happy together, so cold and hunger never seemed to bother them. Celeste's parents were always working to support the family, so Celeste was the one who had to raise and take care of her younger siblings.
When Celeste turned seventeen, her parents revealed to her that they were going to sell her into marriage. Celeste protested, but in the end agreed because she believed that it was for her family, so she agreed. Celeste moved behind wall rose with her new husband. Celeste's new husband gave her anything she could ever want or need, but he was incredibly abusive, narcissistic and he was an alcoholic. The only time Celeste felt safe was when he was asleep or she wasn't in the house, which wasn't often because he would never let her leave.
When Celeste was nineteen, she became pregnant and she was so incredibly excited. She had always wanted to be a mother more then anything. Meanwhile, he husband barely even payed any attention to her or the fact that he was going to be a father. He believed that the baby couldn't possibly be his, so he ignored her entirely.
About three months into Celeste's pregnancy, her husband woke her up in the early morning, drunk, and began to argue with her over who was the father of her future kid. Celeste sleepily told him that it was his and to not be silly, but her husband continued to push and push. The argument continued to escalate to the point that her husband ran into a different room, grabbed a handgun, came back and threatened to shoot her if she didn't tell him.
Celeste tried to defuse the situation as best she could, but her husband shot her in the stomach. Celeste fell to the ground, she used a sheet to apply constant pressure to the wound, waited for her husband to fall back asleep, and then ran to a doctor.Celeste survived the gunshot wound, but her child died. After that, Celeste ran away and decided to join the scouts when she was twenty three, because she hoped to die helping humanity.
