Ashlyn woke up to the sound of her alarm that she'd set the night before. It was a Saturday morning and she had plans with her girlfriend later that evening. She stretched her arms before sitting up and rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

She was not a morning person.

The girl got out of bed and made her way downstairs, greeted by the sight of her parents making breakfast. "Morning Trooper." Her father greeted, walking over to his daughter and giving her a hug which she returned. "Morning dad." Ashlyn replied.

"Are you still going out with Taylor today?" Emma asked her daughter, placing a freshly cooked pancake upon the stack of previously made pancakes. Ashlyn made her way over to the fridge and opened it, searching for a bottle of water. "Yeah I am, I can still borrow the jeep right?" the girl questioned, wanting to make sure.

"Of course, just be careful." Emma replied, giving her daughter a peck on the temple. Ashlyn smiled and grabbed two pancakes, she placed them on a plate and made her way over to the table.

In case you're curious, Ashlyn and Taylor had planned a date for that night, they'd go up to the camping grounds near their city and spend the night together with a bonfire. A perfect date for both of their enjoyment.

Ashlyn happily dined on her pancakes, she had always been a fan of her mother's cooking.

"Do you need any money for snacks or anything kiddo?" Mike asked, reaching for his wallet that was tucked into his pocket. Ashlyn thought for a moment, snacks didn't sound so bad. "If it's okay.. but not too much, we don't need a lot of snacks." she assured, Mike smiled and handed her 40$ anyway. Snacks were cheap in their town, so 40 dollars was a lot.

"Dad--" Ashlyn began to protest but was cut off by her father grabbing her in a playful chokehold. "Nope, it's my treat. You can never go wrong with snacks." Mike stated as if it were a true fact, of course he wasn't wrong. The girl groaned and fought her way out of her father's grasp, which resulted in a play fight between the two with Ashlyn currently winning.

"Okay you two, knock it off before you get hurt Mike." Emma teased, earning a shocked expression from her husband. "What! Me?" he asked, dumbfounded. This caused Ashlyn to laugh, something about wives picking on their husbands was funny to her.

"Yeah dad." Ashlyn replied, clearly smug about her mother taking her side. Mike shot a playful glare at his daughter but laughed nonetheless. "Fine, fine. enjoy your breakfast trooper." Her father ruffled her slight bed head before making his way upstairs to get some work done.

Ashlyn grumbled some complaints under her breath while she fixed her hair. Her mother laughed under her breath. "Your father and I have work today, but we'll be home by tonight if you two show up. Okay?" Emma said, grabbing her mug of coffee from the counter top.

The girl nodded in reply, unable to respond verbally due to a bite of pancakes in her mouth.

An hour or so later, Ashlyn finished her breakfast. Her parents left 30 minutes earlier, both had gotten a ride from work friends considering Ashlyn would have the jeep for the day. The girl made her way upstairs and got dressed in the outfit she had laid out the night before.

It was a simple pale blue plaid jacket over a black tank top and some jean shorts. Definitely one of her favorite outfits but she didn't wear it often. Ashlyn made sure to put on her converse as well.
