If you knew Taylor and Tyler, you would know their home life isn't the best. Their father passed away from a sickness when both of them were young, it damaged their mother so badly that she was unable to take care of them. Even to this day, she has her moments where she'll forget that her husband is gone, and once she remembers it hurts her all over again.
Because of this, Tyler took over his father's responsibilities. Even though he was the younger twin, he felt a need to take care of his mother and sister. He would cook for them, do laundry, take care of Taylor, and fix whatever was broken around their house. All of these responsibilities...
and he was only a child.
(I headcannon he's the younger twin🙂↕️)
He's older now, though he still makes it his responsibility to care for his family. But sometimes, Tyler has days where he can't take the overwhelming pressure anymore. And that, is where Ashlyn comes in.
After meeting the group around a year ago, Tyler and Ashlyn grew the closest despite their constant quarreling. And now, four months later, the two were together. Tyler confessed his feelings for Ashlyn, and to his surprise she felt exactly the same. Since that day, they were always there for each other, whether it was in the phantom dimension or the real world.
They could rely on each other.
Tyler could rely on Ashlyn.
At the moment, Tyler was attempting to clean around their house. His mother was having another episode after suddenly remembering her husband. Taylor locked herself in their shared bedroom, it's what she always did when their mother acted like this. So Tyler was left to deal with everything. The house was a mess, it always was during times like this.
The poor boy was frustrated, he had no help and there were things scattered everywhere. He groaned and tossed the last bit of trash into the trash can. Tyler had already been having a horrible day and this situation just made it ten times worse.
He was so close to breaking down right there.
'Screw this.' Tyler thought, he put on his shoes and grabbed his set of house keys. The boy didn't even bother to inform his mother that he was leaving for a bit, it's not like she would've listened anyway. He opened the front door and walked out, making sure to close and lock it before walking down the driveway.
There was only one place he felt like going, a place where he felt safe and welcome. A place where a special someone lived who always knew how to cheer him up.
Ashlyn's house.
It was a good ten minute walk, Tyler spared a glance at the sky. It was cloudy today, he remembered the weather forecast warning them about a storm. Hopefully he would get to Ashlyn's house before it started raining, if there was anything else that could possibly ruin his day even more it was getting stuck in the rain with no jacket or umbrella.
The boy tensed when thunder suddenly erupted in the dark grey sky, he walked a bit faster. 'Please don't rain, please don't rain.' he repeated in his mind, he was already down the street from Ashlyn's house. Tyler could see the school bus graveyard walls in the distance, he sighed in relief.
He walked up the porch steps, proceeding to ring the doorbell. Tyler stood there for a few seconds, waiting for someone to open the door. A somewhat strong breeze ruffled his hair, he knew the storm was getting closer. Finally after what felt like hours Ashlyn's dad, Mike, opened the door. "Oh, hello Tyler. What brings you here?" The man questioned with a smile.
