"Girls, get in here," Abby yells and we rush into the studio, "Let's talk about last weekend. That was not the group that just won nationals. Obviously, cut still works in the Carolinas. This weekend, we are heading to Columbus, Ohio. You know who lives in Ohio?"

"Candy Apples," Chloe says and we all laugh.

"She will be at the competition. We are gonna take a bite out of that big apple. Let's start with the pyramid. On the bottom, Kendall. You are on probation. I am watching you like a hawk. Mackenzie, I keep giving you little parts. Your dancing is not at the same level as everyone else. Brooke, you knew the number, but the crying and the hysterics, that's not a young adult. Paige, you did a nice job this week. Then on the bus coming home we told you to sit down 32 times. I counted. That's 31 too many. Nia, I left you here in the same spot as you were last week. Maybe somebody from Nia's family could come and support her. Next we have Eva. You got first with your solo, but you slipped in the group. And then there is your mother... that was unnecessary." I see Mom roll her eyes. "Next, Chloe. You did a great job. And on top of the pyramid, Maddie. You did a great job and you got first place as well. Everyone is going to be in the group dance. It's called Bad Apples. It's a little forties, it's a little novelty, but it's a little Katy Perry. I want the pin up girl look with a rat and a snood."

____________
Eva's Interview

"I don't want to know what Miss Abby is talking about. Why does she want us to put a rat on our hair? And what the heck is a snood??
____________

"Brooke, you are doing a solo against one of Cathy's students. Eva, you will also be doing a solo against one of Cathy's students. A boy. I expect a win from both of you. I want you to make applesauce out of them. Backstage, freak them out. Those kids should be in tears before they ever step on the stage," Abby says, "Moms you are dismissed. Girls spread apart."

We start to learn the group and it's really fun.

"I do this big! Small! Big! Small! Big!" Abby yells.

Then we start to work on acro tricks and this is even more fun than the group number. Then Jill comes down and starts to ask to speak to Abby.

"Abby I need to talk to you, can we have two minutes?" Jill asks.

"You shouldn't be in here with those shoes on," Abby says, "You need to go stay with the other mothers."

"I just wanted to talk to you about Kendall," Jill says.

Then, Jill and Abby start to fight a little.
____________
Solo Rehearsal

"Your solo this weekend is an acro jazz routine entitled Ready For It? It's a loud and sharp piece and you need to show that with your movement, okay?" Abby says and I nod.

She starts to teach me my dance and I really love it. I'm also really surprised she picked me over Maddie to go against this boy. We'd both be in his age category.
