"Girls, let's go!" Abby yells and we run into the studio, "Have you all welcomed Jade?"

We nod.

Jade and her mom, Loree are here this week. I like Jade, she's nice. So is her mom.

"Jade, you weren't with us last week. The girls won, congratulations!" Abby says, "Powerhouse Dance Competition. We were the overall high score. Let's get to the pyramid. On the bottom, Chloe. You were third in the competition. You know how I feel about anything under third. Next, Nia. You made it into the top five. You were fourth. Next, Mackenzie. Do I think you could stand up a little straighter? Yes. Am I gonna stay on your back? Absolutely."

"Next, Eva. You won the competition. Your solo was amazing. You have one of the best emotional execution of the team, but it never reaches your eyes anymore. I want to see the spark in you that once lit up the stage," Abby says.

I nod.

"Next, Maddie. You were great in the group dance and you were on the Ellen Show. On top of the pyramid, Kendall. Your solo was second. You were behind Eva by a tenth of a point. I'm assuming it was a tie and Eva won because of her technique. You also led the group to victory and I was very proud of that."

"This week, we are attending Imagine Dance Challenge," Abby says, "This is a brand new competition. Studio Bleu will be there. I had a brilliant idea about a group number that I've been wanting to do for sometime, but since we're going to Virginia and all these amazing studios are there, I don't think we're going to do that number. I don't think we're really gonna win. People are out to get you. I don't wanna waste that number. Everyone is in the group routine, I just don't know what we're doing."

"Jade, you will be performing a solo. The title of your solo is Far East. My next solo is Chloe. There's a piece of music called They Don't Want My Kind Around Here. And it's dark. My final solo is Eva. It's called The Light She Brings. It's a lyrical piece and I'm going to use it to help bring that light back to you."

I nod.

Also, Chloe's piece is such a dig at her like it's not even funny. Abby hates her for no reason...

"The three of you are going to be going against a lot of good kids," Abby says, "I think we're good. Moms, you're dismissed. Be nice to Loree."

"We'll be nice," Mom says, "We like her."
______________
Group Rehearsal

We start stretching while Abby, Gia, and Layla start talking about what we're gonna do.

"Eva, see if you can do a triple back handspring," Maddie says.

I do a triple back handspring.

"I wanna be able to do Acro like you when I'm older," Kenzie says.

We keep messing around.

"Girls," Abby says, "I need you to line up for me."

We line up in front of her.

"What about phobias?" Abby asks, "The piece could be what are you afraid of. People are afraid of heights, of small places. What are you really afraid of?"
