"Girls let's go! We've got a lot to do!" Abby says and we run into pyramid, "Congratulations! Alright now, obviously Maddie is not here. She is doing a job in LA. I'm looking for the child who can be my Maddie when Maddie's not here."

Abby moves over to the pyramid, "On the bottom, Nia. You had another opportunity to do a solo, something went wrong. Next, I have Kendall. You were part of the duet with Kalani. Kalani did a duet with Maddie two weeks ago and they won. Was it your fault?"

Jill rolls her eyes.

"And next, Kalani. From the top, to the bottom row. You're only as good as your last performance. Next, we have Eva. Your duet placed fourth. It was better than Kendall and Kalani's, but it wasn't good enough for me. I don't think it was good enough for you either," Abby says.

I mean... she's right I guess. I wasn't too happy with fourth since normally Kenzie and I win when we do duets.

"Moving up, Chloe. You were part of a winning duet. The only thing I saw lacking in you was the facial expressions. Next, Mackenzie."

"Why is Mackenzie above Chloe and Eva?" Christi asks.

"You told us in the green room that you thought Eva outshined Kenzie in the duet so why is she higher than my daughter?" Mom asks.

"Because Mackenzie was outstanding with the candy box," Abby says, "Mackenzie, if it weren't for that Candy box, you'd be down by Nia and Kendall."

"Chloe was part of the winning duet and she was in the winning group dance, Eva outshined Kenzie in the duet and she was in the winning group dance and Kenzie's above them because of a candy box?" Christi asks.

"She had a solo part," Abby says. Then, she moves on, "On top of the pyramid, Maddie. Nobody seems too happy about that."

"It's just predictable these days," Jill says.

Spot on Jill, spot on...

"Isn't that sad?" Abby asks, "Moving onto this week

"Isn't that sad?" Abby asks, "Moving onto this week. We will be traveling to Indiana. We will be attending Masters of Dance Arts. The group routine is entitled The Bite. Mackenzie, you will be performing a solo this week. It's entitled Red. Kalani, you're going to be doing a solo called Swan Solstice. Chloe, you will also have a solo. It's entitled Into Me. Chloe, you are also going to be in a duet. That duet will be you... and Eva."

I attack Chloe in a hug. Our first duet of the season and our first duet since the incident at nationals last season.

"Yay!" Mom says.

"The name of your routine is Safe and Sound," Abby says as Chloe and I retake our spots.

"I love that!" Christi says.

"Maddie isn't here today," Abby says, "I need somebody to take her place. We're gonna have a little competition. I want everybody to improv and then the moms are gonna vote. Here's the catch. You cannot vote for your own kid. Moms, come on over here."
