We walk into the studio.

"Hi Miss Abby," I say.

"Hi Sweetheart," Abby says.

"I'm sorry to hear about your mom," I say.

Mrs. Miller passed over the weekend and it was very sad.

"Thank you sweetheart, thank you," Abby says and I walk around the desk and give her a hug.

"My heart goes out to you truly," Mom says.

We walk into the studio for pyramid. We all have our new season jackets on.

"Wow, you're looking like a team today," Miss Abby says, "You all have a beautiful performance last week for my mom. The winning streak as we know it is over. It was good while it lasted. Let's get to the pyramid. On the bottom, Chloe. You had a solo. You were fifth overall. From what I'm hearing, you should've been second or third."

"Next, Nia. You still have a long way to go. Next, Kalani. You were beautiful in the group. You're kinda just there. Next, Kendall. You hold your own in the group. Next, Eva. You were second. Second's fine, second's okay, but I don't want fine and okay. I want first and I want amazing and perfect."

I nod.

Be perfect, Eva. How hard can it be? Abby expects more from you, so give her more.

"Next, Maddie. You went out and you won. It was great. On top, Mackenzie! You did it all this week! You shot a video. The director said that you were gonna be a star."

"Alright, I know you've been here since the beginning, I know you pay the tuition, but times are changing

"Alright, I know you've been here since the beginning, I know you pay the tuition, but times are changing. I've been telling you for months now that I'm going to form a new team. It's finally happening. I came up with a team that's just like you. There will be one new team member to go up against each of you. I think it's time to bring the new team in. Take a deep breath, because your life is about to change," Abby says.

The new team walks in. I look at Chloe and Kendall.

"Girls, I know it's intimidating to walk into this room," Abby says, "You don't look very intimidated though, do you?"

"I don't think there's any competition there," Kira says, "You brought our trash from Arizona," She points to one of the new moms.

"Sarah, come on out here," Abby says and one of the girls walks out, "Kira, I'm sure you thought I brought Sarah to go against Kalani."

"Kalani beats her all the time," Kira says, "She's no challenge for Kalani."

"But is she a challenge for Nia?" Abby says. Nia walks out. "Check eachother out girls."

"Ava, step forward," Abby says, "Kendall. Stand up here next to the other 11 year old."

"Vea, step forward," Abby says, "Eva, step forward. Notice how close your names are? Just flipped the first two letters. Vea, maybe you'll become my new Eva."
