A/N: this one is short... oopsie
Good news: it was not Joker who crashed the event
Bad news: it was Lex Luthor
Nico never thought he would see the day where he prayed for Joker to show up.
The man walked in and immediately all the brothers tensed.
Nico shook his head to his brothers, telling them not to do anything as he excused himself from his conversation with Bart and Leo— the two barely noticed his absence as they continued their hyper fast conversation about time travel.
Nico calmly approached Luthor who looked at him with masked distaste.
"Hello Mr. DiAngelo-Wayne," he said with a practiced polite smile. "So sorry for showing up unannounced, but I needed a word with Bruce."
Nico put on a polite smile of his own, but his eyes were unmasked in his dislike for the man. "You don't actually."
The bald man eyed him for a second. "I know you are still new to this whole high society thing, so I'll help you out. Your father withheld an invitation to this event from me, which is highly slanderous-"
Nico didn't let him finish. "Actually, it was me who didn't invite you. I thought that is was strange that the Secretary General of the UN came to fundraisers when he should have no ties to any companies. Your sister runs your company now, not you."
"Yet she didn't receive an invitation to this event either," he said, eyes glaring down at him.
Nico shrugged. "She has never once expressed an interest in funding foster homes or orphanages, which is what this event is for. In fact, when she was running for governor a few years ago, she stated that she would cut funding for social serviced in order to better fund the school systems— a noble goal if the cost of it weren't the livelihood of children."
Lex clenched his jaw. "I see you have done your research."
Nico smirked. "I have. Now, since that is settled, I think its best you leave— that is, unless you would like to make a donation from your own person bank account."
Lex stared at him for a moment. "I would."
"Then follow me and I can show you where to put the check," Nico said beginning to lead him to where they kept track of if they had reached their goal. "It is so kind of you to make this donation anonymously— considering the Secretary General cannot publicly support organizations or businesses."
They arrived at the station and Nico watched him silently rage as he wrote a check. There were too many eyes on him to back out now. Once he had handed the check over, he glared down at the teen. "Of course. Have a wonderful night DiAngelo."
Nico smirked. "You as well, Luthor."
The bald man walked away and Nico was instantly clapped on the back by a cackling Jason. "I wish I had that on video."
Tim appeared next to them. "I do. I'll send it to you."
Kon joined them, and arm around Tim. "I haven't seen him get that annoyed that fast since the last time I showed up at his work place and asked for money."
Dick looked at the clone with raised eyebrows. "You ask Lex for money?"
Kon shrugged. "It pisses him off and I find a lot of joy in doing it."
Roy joined the group, chuckling at what Kon said. "I like to piss him off too, but I prefer to just blow up some of his stuff. It combines two of my passions in life."
The group laughed as Will joined them, Wally walking with him as they chatted.
"Why is everyone laughing? What did we miss?" Wally asked.
Nico shrugged. "Pissing off Luthor. Apparently I'm not the only one who has a passion for it."
Will shook his head with a laugh as he moved to stand by Nico. "You like to piss off everyone. Remember when your father told you to go back to camp and you refused. Gods, he got so pissed he almost killed you."
Nico and his brothers chuckled while the others looked at him in horror.
"Bruce tried to kill you?" Wally whispered, glancing at the man across the ballroom in concern.
"Oh, gods no," Nico said, waving him off. "I'm talking about my father— my birth father. He's a lot better now, but it used to be rough."
Kon raised an eyebrow. "I thought your bio parents were dead."
"Officially, yes. Realistically, no. My father is very much not dead, just... not available? There isn't a great way to explain."
Jason snorted at that as he snaked his arm around Roy's waist, earning a glance of surprise from Dick and Tim. "His family is confusing. It's best to just accept it and move on rather than attempting to understand."
"Nico!" Rachel called, waving him over.
Will and Nico dipped out of the conversation as Tim and Dick began sharing glances over what Jason and Roy were.
"What's up Rach?" The blonde teen asked as they approached her, noticing she had a checkbook out.
"How much did Luthor donate? I wanna beat him."
Nico laughed before telling her the number. "Since when do you have a vendetta against Luthor as well?"
She never answered because suddenly there were the sounds of gunshots filling the air and people began screaming. Nico grabbed Rachel and Will, immediately shoving them towards his brothers as his eyes scanned the room for the rest of his family and friends.
"Brucie!" A voice cried as more bullets were shot into the chandelier, glass spraying down across the people.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me," Nico muttered under his breath. "I fucking knew something like this was gonna happen."
A/N: what can I say, I'm consistent. also, I will try to remember to put a picture in the next chapter of sailor, but I don't have any good ones rn.
