A/N: back at it with my old habits, it's a long chapter

Nico sat in his bed, staring at the wall as anxiety rippled through him. Every breath was strained as he tried his best to keep them even. He knew everything would be fine, but that didn't change that he felt like the world was ending.

There was a soft knock on his cracked door before Dick's head peaked in. "Hey Neeks, he's downstairs."

Nico didn't look at his brother, just nodding numbly. He wanted to stand up and go to the door, but his body didn't move.

Dick left the doorway and crossed the room, sitting on the bottom corner of her bed. "If you'd be more comfortable, I can bring him to you. Does that sound better?"

"I don't know," he mumbled. "Did you talk to him?"

"Bruce is, right now," Dick said softly. "If you're not ready-"

"I'm fine," Nico said quickly before pausing. "Or... I won't be any better if we wait. Just... just send him up." He looked back at the wall before adding a "please," as an afterthought.

Dick nodded and left the room, the door closing behind him.

Nico pulled the blanket higher onto him as he turned over to face the wall, his back to the door. He heard a knock and muttered a come in, not even looking at the person who came in— he already knew who it was.

"Hey death boy," Will said hesitantly. "Can I sit with you?"

"Yeah," Nico said quietly, still not looking at him.

He felt the bed dip and the pillow next to him shift. Neither said anything for a long time. They just sat silently.

"Can you look at me?" Will asked, his voice coarse.

Nico hesitated before he slowly turned around. Will's eyes were immediately scanning over him. His hand reached out to touch the scar that ran from about an inch below his eye and wrapped around his jawline, but Nico flinched away slightly, causing Will drop his hand.

"I'm fine now," Nico said, sitting up to face him better. He unconsciously adjusted his sleeves to come down further so that neither could see his scars from the Joker attack the year before.

Will looked at him with a soft smile, but his eyes were sad. "Can I check?"

Nico hesitantly nodded before Will gently took the smaller teen's hands in his own, his skin beginning to glow softly as he closed his eyes.

Nico watched his boyfriend's face carefully, looking for any sign that he found something wrong with him.

Will's eyes opened, immediately finding Nico's and smiling. "You're all good."

Nico stared at him, his eyebrows furrowing as he said, "are you sure?"

Will cocked his head, not quite sure what Nico was talking about, but still responded. "Yep, you're fully healed."

Nico shook his head a little. "No, that's... can you check again?"

Will stared at him in surprise for a moment before he nodded. He gestured for him to lay down this time as he rested his hands on the Italian's chest. "I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure you're okay."

Nico nodded, closing his eyes this time as he took in the familiar feeling of Will's powers spreading through his body. After a few minutes, the feeling didn't go away even though he should have been done, so the younger opened his eyes. He saw Will just smiling down at him, skin still aglow.
