A/N: tis short, but full of drama so...

Nico quickly answered his phone as soon as the doors of the meeting room closed behind him. "Yeah, Yeah, I know. I'm late."

Garf laughed. "What's your ETA?"

"I just left a meeting, so I need to change, but I can be there in 10. Is your trailer clear?"

"Yep. See you soon," he said before he hung up.

Nico put his phone away before looking up and seeing that the rest of the YJ team was still there.

"You going to talk to Batman and Red Robing to find out what the hell just happened?" Bart asked.

"No, but I will later. I have an interview."

"Interview?" Virgil asked, looking annoyed. "7 members of the Justice League just quit and 2 members from our team went with them and you have an interview?"

Nico glared at him slightly. He knew that Virgil's frustration wasn't at him, more about the situation, but he didn't appreciate the tone. "Yes, I have an interview. Though it may shock you, I have a life outside of being a vigilante that I can't just set aside every time something happens."

Virgil scoffed, turning away from him as he muttered, "what else should I have expected from a Wayne," under his breath. It was definitely not supposed to be heard, but it still totally was.

Nico grit his teeth. "I know you're pissed about the League right now, but that doesn't mean you can blame me," he said, attempting to channel his inner Dick and take the high road.

"Oh yeah? Who do you think inspired the big bad at to go solo? You and your team have been breaking the law without consequence for months, but not all of us are royalty. Plus-"

Fuck the high road, Nico thought to himself.

The demigod approached Vigil, the other team members moving away immediately, knowing what his temper was like after the Lazarus Pit.

"So that's it, huh? You're mad because you think I'm some prince who was adopted by a rich dude and never learned consequences?" Nico said, glaring at Vigil.

Virgil rolled his eyes. "If the shoe fits."

Nico wanted to hit him... like, really bad, but he kept his hands at his side and just sent him a death glare. "Well let me give you a quick lesson on my life. I grew up in fascist Italy with my mother and older sister before we immigrated to the US to escape the War. Then, my mother was killed, leaving my sister and I bastard orphans. We lost our memories and the next this we knew, it was 70 years later. We were then thrown in a school where someone tried to murder us, saved, my sister left me, and then she died on a mission. Then, I was homeless. Someone found me, manipulated me, and then tried to see me to the enemy. Then I fought in a war."

Virgil tried to say something, his eyes wide in surprise at the venom laced in Nico's voice, but the demigod didn't let him speak.

"After that, I was shunned by the very people I risked my life for. I found out I had another sister, saved her, then spent the next 9 months traveling between two places, trying to stop a second war— all while being technically homeless— only for the war to happen anyway. I got stuck in a place that I still  can't even talk about because of how bad it was, got out because the enemy wanted to use me as a hostage, got out of that, and then nearly died yet again. Then I fought in a second war." Nico's hands shook with rage, but he kept his voice even. He felt the familiar Lazarus rage pumping through his veins, but kept it at bay. "Yes, my father is a king, but I will always be a bastard. And yes, I was adopted by Bruce Wayne and that can mean a lot of things, but it— before anything else— means that I was an orphan first.

"You don't know me. You don't know my history. My don't know anything about my people or the things that we have lost. So, don't come at me with your self pity and baseless accusations because I didn't do shit. I didn't force Batman to leave. I didn't force you to get left behind by your mentor. And I sure as hell didn't force you to be an ass about it. You think you're a martyr because you were kidnapped for a few weeks and experimented on— and I'm sorry that that happened to you— but it doesn't make you special. I have been fighting to survive my entire fucking life, so don't tell me what I can and can't do with my time."

The room was silent.

Nico took a deep breath before stepping away and walking towards a shadow. Right before he stepped in, he paused and turned around. "And the interview I'm doing is with Garfield Logan. We're raising awareness for Meta-Teen Trafficking. I may be 'just a Wayne' to you, but at least I'm doing something and not just waiting for the League to call on me."

With that, he stepped into the shadows and was gone.

A/N: twas getting a little too peaceful, so I had to shake it up
