A month later, three days after Adam's seventeenth birthday, Leo was in the living room, searching something, and he lifted the couch with his bionic arm.
- "Hey! What are you doing?" Douglas asked, from the kitchen.
- "Looking for my phone. Perhaps you haven't heard, I'm bionic now." The nephew smiled widely.
- "We know, Leo. You've been saying that all summer." Maddie chuckled.
- "Put that down and be..." The uncle started. The Davenport boy let the couch fall to the floor with a thud. "Gentle! Look, I know that the bionic arm is fun, but you can't just use it whenever you want."
- "Oh, but it's okay when you need a pickle jar opened?" Leo asked.
- "That was an emergency. You can't have a tuna sandwich without a nice kosher dill." Douglas replied as he agitated the pickle towards the childhood best friends, who wiped their faces. "Having that arm is a huge responsibility, which I thought you could handle." He explained. "We finally got the government on our side. Do you know what would happen if they found out there was a fourth bionic kid?"
- "It'd be an even number. I imagine they'd be happy." The nephew replied.
- "For them, it's already an even number since I'm 'bionic'." The alien girl said.
- "Or they would take you away and lock me up." The uncle answered. "And I can't go back to prison." The Davenport boy looked at him with wide eyes. "There was a farewell party, I gave a speech, it'd just be awkward."
- "Okay, I get it. I'll only use my arm when it's absolutely necessary." Leo replied.
- "Right." The Matthews girl nodded, not buying his words for a second.
- "Good." Douglas said.
A fly buzzed in the air near the nephew, who started to swat it and accidentally, activated his laser spheres, which fired and broke the rock in the living room.
- "You know, technically that was the fly's fault." He defended.
- "You are a lost cause." Maddie slapped her forehead.
Uncle and nephew walked away in separate directions. Chase walked in.
The alien girl's eyes widened as she saw the tightness of his t-shirt.
- "Good morning, Mads." The bionic boy smiled.
- "Morning." The Matthews girl said. "What... Since when..." She started as she gestured to what he was wearing.
- "You told me that I should show off my muscles more. So, I figured: new school year equals new clothes." The Davenport boy explained. "What do you think?"
- "I think: thank you for proving that I was right." The blue-eyed girl replied.
The green hazel-eyed boy snickered.
- "No, seriously. You look amazing!" Maddie exclaimed as she looked at his chest.
- "Thanks." Chase's neck and face turned bright red.
- "You're gonna kill everyone." The alien girl added.
The bionic boy rolled his eyes as his face turned redder.
- "Don't roll your eyes. I'm serious. People are gonna die when they'll see you in tight shirts." The Matthews girl continued. "They were already dying at your birthday, even though, you didn't believe me."
- "You're exaggerating." The Davenport boy replied.
- "Okay, then, we'll see at school if people are looking at you or not." The blue-eyed girl said.
