A month later, it was Maddie's fifteenth birthday.

At midnight, she was curled up on her bed, still dressed, as tears flowed down her cheeks. She had not moved since the entire house went to sleep, she could not physically move as sadness and grief were eating her in the inside.

Last year was magical. This year, she's not here. The alien girl hugged her pillow as she sobbed, silently. And I'm crying again! I'm so pathetic! She thought, angrily.

The door of her bedroom opened and closed, quickly, after. The Matthews girl felt someone laying behind her and a pair of arms wrapped around her shaking body.

A couple of minutes earlier, Chase was pacing in the hallway, in his pajamas, waiting to wish a happy birthday to his best friend. He, then, saw Leo.

- "What are you doing here?" He asked as he adjusted his pajama shirt.

- "Same thing as you." The genius boy replied.

- "Do you mind if I go, first?" The shorter boy asked.

- "No, go ahead." The green hazel-eyed boy nodded.

- "Thanks." The older brother walked in his best friend's room.

Chase sighed and slid down the wall, facing the door. I hope she's okay. He, furtively, looked at her, curled up on her bed, shaking. His heart sank at the sight. Aw, Mads. Leo pushed the door closed, but it wasn't completely close. As soon as Leo comes out, I'm going in. He brought his knees to his chest and hugged them as he waited.

In the bedroom, Leo was still hugging his best friend.

- "I know, you didn't want me to come, but I never listen to you." He said.

- "I thought my birthday would be better after our Earth birthday, Christmas, and her birthday pasted, but it's not..." Maddie explained as her voice broke.

- "Come here." The brown-eyed boy said.

The blue-eyed girl turned around and buried her face in his chest.

- "I miss her so much." She sobbed.

- "Me too." The Davenport boy cried as he hugged her tighter. "It'll be okay. You'll be okay, Dee." He whispered.

- "Everybody says that!" The Matthews girl stood up. "But it's not true! I feel like the more time passes, the more I miss her."

- "Grief takes time." Leo replied.

- "It was almost a year ago." Maddie frowned.

- "I know, but she's your mom. It will take more time." The brown-eyed boy said.

The blue-eyed girl sighed.

- "I wish I died that night, instead of her." She whispered.

- "No!" Chase burst in, tears threatening to fall down his face.

The Matthews girl closed her eyes. Shit.

- "Chase, not now." The older brother said.

- "You didn't hear, did you?" The genius boy asked.
