A couple of days later, the team walked through a portal after a mission with Sebastian, Jason, and Margot.
- "Nice work, guys. That mission was a total success." Chase said.
- "Maybe for you. Nothing caught on fire or blew up. To me: colossal failure." Adam replied.
- "Well, good news, you've got heat vision and a whole afternoon ahead of you." Leo explained. "Go make something happen." He walked away.
- "Hey, Adam, check it out. While you were gone, I got to boogie board with the dolphins." Bob showed a boogie board with a bite taken out of it.
- "I tried to tell him. It wasn't they weren't dolphins, but he doesn't listen." Chris walked up to his mentor.
- "It's okay." Maddie patted his shoulder.
- "Yeah. He doesn't listen to anyone but Adam." Aaron sighed.
- "I know." The alien girl sighed.
- "Bob, those weren't dolphins. These are clearly the bites of an angry catfish." The tall guy explained.
- "Wow! Is there anything you don't know?" The blonde boy exclaimed, before walking away.
- "Yeah. Everything." The younger Krane boy scoffed.
The two young boys walked away, following their brother.
- "I don't think we should let those two play together anymore." Bree said.
- "Uh-uh." The three older Kranes shook their heads.
- "Hey, Chase, on the next mission, do you think I might actually be able to do something?" Sebastian walked up to the genius boy. "I mean, even Margot and Jason did something."
- "Well, you did get to do something. You watched me be an amazing mission leader. Most people would pay to see that." The green hazel-eyed boy grinned.
- "And then demand a refund." The Davenport girl replied.
- "Margot and Jason did something because we needed it. Margot protected people with her force field, while Jason used his atmokinesis to create rain and extinguish the fire." The Matthews girl explained. "You'll be able to do something, next time." She patted his shoulder.
- "I'm just saying, the whole purpose for me going on the mission was to get some hands-on training." The eldest Krane boy said.
- "And you did. You handed me my flashlight and my lip balm. Thank you!" Chase smiled.
- "Chase..." Maddie started.
- "But I'm one of the best students here! I've been acing all of my training exercises!" Sebastian yelled. "Without practice, how am I ever gonna be mission leader?"
- "Oh, that's just it, you won't. 'Cause I'm mission leader." The genius boy said.
The alien girl's eyes widened. Goddamn.
- "Yeah, dude, you can't be mission leader, too, because then I would have to make fun of both of you, and there just aren't enough hours in the day." The eldest replied. "I need some me-time."
The green hazel-eyed boy nodded. Exactly.
- "Hey, Chase, stop being such a control freak, okay? Sebastian seems perfectly capable." Bree defended.
- "Oh, thanks." The eldest Krane boy said.
- "Of course." The Davenport girl nodded.
- "Come on, Chase. Please." Sebastian batted his eyes at Chase as he put a hand on his arm.
