LOS ÁNGELES, CALIFORNIA
One Month Later...
Jasmine and Aubrey were back in LA for Aubrey's album release party and the unveiling of his Vogue cover. He and his wife were baby free for the first time as well with Jasmine's parents watching her just for the weekend. The couple were in their car service headed to the party venue. The whole OVO team, Jasmine's friends, and many of Aubrey's colleagues would be present for the occasion. Jasmine was on facetime with her mother in order to say good night to Aaliyah before bed.
"Look at mommy's baby all ready for bedtime." Jas cooed
Aaliyah had begun babbling just a few weeks ago and now she couldn't keep quiet. The three month old reached for the phone, hearing her mommy's voice.
"Babababa!" She smiled
"I miss you too, babygirl." Jas pouted
"Dada misses you too!" Aubrey looked up from his phone
Her babbling only got louder and more excited at the sound of his voice. No matter how hard Jasmine tried, her daughter was a daddy's girl. She couldn't even be mad because so was she.
"Alright. I need to put her down. You too have fun!" Michelle interrupted
"Alright, mommy. I love you. Thank you again!" Jas waved
"Yes, thank you!" Aubrey added
"Of course! Say bye bye Aaliyah!"Michelle smiled
"Bye baby! Mama will see you soon." Jas waved
The phone call ended and the couple sat in silence as Aubrey tapped away at his phone. This has been the reality for the past few weeks as Aub and his team geared up for this release. It was all new for Jasmine because she'd never been with him when he was releasing a project. She never got to see how hard he worked up close and she honestly wished she had before they had gotten married. It was lonely and the North American leg of the tour began in just a few weeks. The only time she truly got his attention is when the kids were involved.
"Honey, I think we're pulling up." Jas said trying to pull him away from his phone
He ignored her, finishing up a couple of texts and emails before the party. Jasmine sat silently, picking at her nails. She heard him lock his phone and look up.
"Alright, let's go. I'll get out first and come open your door." He told her
"Okay." She nodded
"C'mon, smile. Look excited." He told her
She rolled her eyes."Stop doing that shit. It's condescending. I know what I'm doing."
