Chapter 69

Y/n POV

We made our move under the cover of night as we approached the building where Kash and Darius are staying in. Two sleeping velociraptors lay in front of the entrance. Brooklyn signals us to run around the sleeping dinosaurs to hopefully avoid waking them up.

Kenji lets out a terrified gasp as a rope suddenly appears from above him.

One of the velociraptors yawns before going back to sleep. I let out a sigh of relief considering that could have gotten us in deeper troubles.

Darius appears near a railing up on the second floor of the building. He pulls on the rope to check if it's secure before signaling with a thumbs up, "Ready."

All of us silently climb the rope until Brooklyn is the last one to reach the top. I lean over the railing while keeping an eye on the velociraptors. My eyes widen as I spot one getting agitated by a scent. It must have gotten the smell of one of us which is causing it to wake up.

"Darius, we have to pull the rope. Now!" I exclaim to Darius.

He doesn't wait for an explanation as he commands the BRAD, "BRAD, pull!" The BRAD-X starts pulling at the rope and successfully pulls Brooklyn away from the awakened velociraptors.

"BRAD, stop!" Darius commands and the BRAD-X stops doing any actions. He lets out a sigh of relief while turning towards Brooklyn, "Good thing you were able to get me voice command for BRAD here."

Brooklyn, still recovering from the shock, whispers, "Yeah... Real good thing."

Darius turns towards everyone else, "Okay, come on guys. Who knows when Kash is gonna wake up." He leads us through the building before letting us enter an elevator.

"This will take you down to the MedBay. There's a nursery next to it. He's testing the control chips on the baby dinos first thing in the morning," Darius informs us. Brooklyn turns to ask, "What about cameras?"

Darius responds, "Mr. Genius has been too busy to get the island's camera system up and running. Message me on the BRAD-X as soon as you get the babies out. Good luck."

The elevator door closes as Darius stays behind with the BRAD-X.

The tablet that controls the BRAD-X beeps which notifies Brooklyn. Aleem glances at the screen while muttering, "That Kash guy really seems to bump into Darius a lot."

I turn to Brooklyn to ask, "Is everything alright with Darius?"

Brooklyn writes a response for the BRAD-X before answering, "He was suspicious but I got this."

~Time Skip~

The elevator stops to let us off on the MedBay floor. The lights slowly turn on as the motion sensors are triggered to a person being on the floor. We silently walk through the large room before Ben exclaims, "Hey, guys?! I think I found it!"

He points towards a hallway and on the wall is a screen which shows three occupied rooms. "Looks like there's only three baby dinos in the nursery," Ben comments. Aleem spots another door and unlocks the screen which ends up showing information.

"Baby Brachiosaurus. Two months old. DNA extracted from Isla Sorna," Aleem reads it out loud. Ben walks up to him before speaking with confidence, "It won't take me long. Where we meeting after?"

"MedBay. We'll load them up on a platform and figure out which biome to take them to later," Brooklyn responds quietly. Brooklyn and Sammy leave to check on the other babies. "I'm gonna stay here with Ben," I informed my brother.

Aleem looks at the two of us before glancing at the door which leads to the MedBay. "I'm going to keep watch. I trust Darius but we don't know how long he can keep Kash distracted," he mutters before heading off.

The two of us enter the room and inside of a glass cage is the sleeping baby brachiosaurus. I let out a small "aw" as the baby snores softly. Ben walks towards a tray full of blueberries before grabbing a handful.

"Too easy," Ben mutters to himself.

I raise an eyebrow, "Are you sure you don't need help?"

He gives me a smile, "You can just sit back and relax. We all need a moment to relax." I chuckle before sitting down at the nearest wall, "Whatever you say." I place my arms behind my head as I watch him place the blueberries near the baby's snout.

"All right, champ. Your buddy Ben's here to save you," Ben says while waking her up by petting her snout. The baby dino lets out a shriek before she starts to run around in terror. The baby bumps into the glass walls and into Ben while still shrieking.

I stand up quickly, exclaiming, "Ben! Too much noise!"

Ben stands still since he doesn't know what to do when the baby suddenly rams herself into him causing him to fall onto the ground. I wince as he slowly stands up but he's overall fine. Thankfully, he didn't get any injuries.

"Ben, are you sure you don't want help?" I ask.

He shakes his hands before grabbing another handful of blueberries, "No. No. I got this. You can stay there." Ben tries offering the blueberries but the baby just growls at him. I watch with an amused expression on my face as Ben starts running after the baby while aggressively offering the blueberries as food.

Overall, it appears like a cartoon as the baby runs in a circle while Ben runs in a circle while chasing her. The baby brachiosaurus ends up knocking over a feeding trough full of tomatoes. Ben lets out a sound of agitation before he starts placing the tomatoes back into the trough.

"Bumpy would do anything for a few berries," he mutters angrily.

I finally decided to help him since he hasn't gotten anything done except accidentally making a fool of himself in front of his girlfriend, aka me. He sees me entering and quips, "Y/n, don't even say anything."

The baby brachiosaurus slowly approaches me before headbutting my shoulder. I softly push her head back but she headbutts me again which makes me realize something.

"Ben... Not all baby dinosaurs are going to act like Bumpy. Maybe this little gal is already fed. She seems awfully playful," I explain as the baby headbutts me hard. Ben's eyes widened before saying, "I guess you're not Bumpy." I smile as Ben approaches the baby, "Alright. Let's try it your way."
