Aanya

Lani and I hid under the tattered fabric in the narrow alley, the rough texture scratching against my skin. I did my best to make sure Lani was comfortable.

Lani slept in my arms, her tiny body curled up for warmth and security.

The air was thick with the stench of decay and filth. Why did we have to land on this lawless planet? Why couldn't we land on an oasis planet?

My feet throbbed from the constant running and the cuts on the bottoms of my feet, and my shoulder ached from the rough emergency landing. But as the hours passed, the pain gradually dulled.

We couldn't stay here forever. We needed to find food and figure out a way to contact the Rhodinians.

But every time I peered out from our makeshift hideout, the same group of alien males were patrolling the area. They were relentless, constantly sweeping the streets as they searched for us.

Why couldn't they just give up? Didn't they have bigger fish to fry?

My heart pounded against my ribcage as I pulled the fabric tighter around us, trying to remain invisible. The cold ground sent shivers up my spine, and the constant hum of machinery gave me a headache.

As the hours dragged on, my feet felt marginally better, and the sharp pain in my shoulder lessened to a dull throb. Lani's breathing evened out as she slept, her tiny hands wrapped around my neck.

Suddenly, the sound of heavy footsteps echoed down the alley.

My heart leaped into my throat. Oh, no, no, no.

The same group of alien males found me again. Their eyes locked onto mine.

Panic surged through me, making me freeze. Shit.

"There you are," their leader snarled, his voice a guttural growl.

I tried to summon my vocal power, but my voice was too hoarse from the earlier screams. Instead, a weak croak escaped my lips. They grabbed me roughly, dragging me out from under the fabric. I struggled, but my strength was no match for their brute force.

"Let us go! Please!" I cried, my voice breaking.

One of the aliens sneered. "Not so tough now, are you?"

They dragged me away with Lani in my arms, their grip like iron shackles. How could I get out of this without my voice? Could I distract them? Could I sacrifice myself for–

A familiar voice rang out above the chaos.

"Get your hands off her!" Ronan's rough, familiar voice called out.

Hope surged in my chest. Ronan!

I twisted to see him. Ronan and his team charged towards us, their weapons drawn and determination etched on their faces.

My shoulders slumped. Thank goodness.

They engaged the aliens in combat, their movements a blur of precision and strength.

The team engaged the skeletal males in combat, their movements a blur of precision and strength. Each member of Ronan's team fought uniquely, their personalities shining through in the heat of battle.

Ronan led the charge with fierce determination. His blade flashed in the dim light, every swing calculated and deadly. He moved with the grace of a seasoned warrior.

Drogan fought with a dark intensity. He struck down the alien males, each move precise and efficient. "On your six, Commander!" he called, covering Ronan's back.
