Chapter 46: "Rematch"

Riku moves fast, rapidly swinging his blades and not giving Raichi any time to charge up any magic. Raichi isn't exactly on the defensive, he's able to throw a few counterattacks every now and then with his claws and tail, but he isn't able to get Riku away from him. Every time he flies away Riku is right in front of him the next instant.

"Are you really challenging me to a battle of speed?! The vessel of the dragon of blue starlight?!" Raichi smirks, intrigued by Riku's strategy. "He can't really think I'm going to be this easy, right?"

"Who knows? I guess you'll just have to wait and see!" Riku grins as he jumps back and continues to swing his blades, energy in the form of a slash flying toward Raichi with every swing.

Raichi wraps his light wings around himself, completely guarding him from the attack. Or, so he believes. He's quick to notice a small hole in the magic that's holding his wings together, like a thread that's become somewhat undone right in the middle of a blanket. His eyes grow wide when he sees a small hole in his wing, which he quickly repairs with his magical energy.

"It's only been five days, and he can break through my magic a little with a simple sword swing..?" Raichi grins, his eyes glowing as his gaze turns both ferocious and excited. "You might just help me break through to the next level, Riku!"

"Unfortunately for you, I'm looking to beat you today, not fail and make you even harder to beat." In the two seconds that Raichi was distracted, Riku began charging magical energy into his hands, and in the next second, he instantly fires a quick and powerful energy beam; the beam doesn't fly from his palms, but his blade, making it much quicker and sharper as the energy is forced to funnel through and take the shape of the blade.

Raichi knows Riku is almost at his level, so blocking this would be meaningless if it just gets his defense deleted. He'd go down in an instant. Instead, he used one of his claws to smack the beam away from him and fly off into the air. While his claw does get partially deleted, he's too quick with his next move for it to matter. He launches off the ground and reaches Riku in an instant, swinging his other claw at him from above.

Riku swiftly blocks with both of his blades and knocks his arm upwards, spinning around and kicking him in the side with a little boost from his magic power. However, he didn't notice how quickly Raichi had generated his other claw, nor the sphere of light he'd formed in it. As Raichi gets knocked away, he also throws the ball right into Riku's chest, and it explodes on impact. Both of the young men are sent flying away from each other at the same time.

Almost in complete sync, both of them grunt and gather magic power into their hands. Nearly instantaneously, they recover, grinding their feet against the ground and bringing their palms together to fire two powerful beams at one another; Raichi's made of blue star light, and Riku's made of his deletion magic.

The beams clash and it's clear both of them are equal. Whilst Riku's magic can't completely delete Raichi's beam, Raichi isn't able to push Riku's beam back toward him. Unfortunately for Riku, Raichi has a pair of wings and a tail made of his magical energy, and he quickly spreads his wings and aims his tail at Riku.

"Shit..!" Riku falls to the ground as several tiny beams are fired from both his wings and tail, all flying right at where Riku was just standing. Thankfully he's able to completely avoid the attack, and he's quick to "teleport" behind Raichi. "Those extra parts are so unfair!" Riku shouts, quick to notice that Raichi is too smart for his sneak attack, for he's already turned around and swinging his claws at Riku the instant he's made it behind him.

Riku grunts as he blocks with his two blades, and he's sent flying from the force of Raichi's blow, knocking him up into the air. Raichi flies up after him, but Riku "teleports" away from him before Raichi can smack him into the ground, following up with another energy beam attack that Raichi swiftly knocks away with his tail.
