She felt the vibrations before she saw anything. The pebbles next to her boots shook, and the muscles in her legs worked overtime to keep her steady. Eleanor didn't know the cause, but she knew that it could be nothing good. She stabbed one final demon dog in her vicinity before a raging noise flooded her ears, her torso whipping to face the blue shield and the colour leaving her face. Giant machines had tunneled under the border, and ripped their way through the Earth and onto its surface. They looked like huge cogs, designed to grapple the floor below them and pull themselves forward; their design clearly for shredding anyone in their path.
Her head tilted. She didn't quite want to die just yet, so she booked it in the opposite direction. Everyone else had the same idea as soldiers and avengers and other weird things such as a giant fucking man-tree? ran the same way. Eleanor would ask questions about the sentient flora later. For now? Hauling ass.
She dived out of the way, narrowly avoiding being turned into mincemeat when some of the cog-machines separated from one another and started unpredictably driving around the battlefield. She was out of the way of them for now at least, unless one decided to do a U-turn back to her direction. So... more demon dogs.
Her hands clung to the back of one as she dived on top of it, finishing it off, and using its falling momentum to dive onto another one. Rolling onto the floor, she wiped her forehead to clear any dust, before her eyes darted over to one of the larger and in-tact cog machines being raised into the air by a mass of red tendrils.
"Jesus fucking Christ", she murmured in awe and slowly stood, before immediately getting trampled by a demon dog. She huffed, momentarily having forgotten that the raging war was still a thing. The demon dog didn't last long.
Using the opportunity of a brief break in her radius again, she looked over to Wanda slamming the cog machines behind her, killing a wave of the enemy. Staring ahead at the sight with mouth slightly agape and brows furrowed in a "since when could she do that?" expression, she shot a demon dog coming at her left without even looking, the creature dropping instantly.
She breathed in, then out slowly before setting off on a small jog, going to check on Wanda and whoever else was nearby. A few steps in she spotted the blonde hair. Her wife could have been splatted and she didn't even realise she was in the area. Eleanor swallowed thickly and sped up the jog, murmuring a quick "Oops".
Natasha had already rejoined the fight, so she decided to jog in her direction instead. It seemed that Wanda could handle herself relatively well. Okay, a lot well. Eleanor was very aware that she and Natasha basically fought with their raw strength and target skills. They did well to keep up considering they had to keep up with gods.
"You good?!", she shouted over the screeching of creatures and yells of humans, barrelling past Natasha to body slam a demon dog that was just about to jump at her. Natasha turned, rather elegantly considering the battle they were in, and raised an eyebrow at seeing Eleanor sprawled on the ground, dead demon dog underneath her. "Better than you apparently", Natasha retorted, swinging back to smash her batons into more enemies.
Eleanor huffed again, she didn't even get a thank you. Just snark. But when she saw Natasha smirking at her when they made eye contact whilst fighting their separate battles, Eleanor couldn't help but smile. Fuck, she loved her.
The sound of a fist making impact with someone's skull broke her out of her train of thought, watching as Proxima Midnight had absolutely slammed Wanda and sent her tumbling down into a sandy ditch. Both Natasha and Eleanor finished their kill with a brewing rage, Eleanor sending her hand daggers piercing into a demon dog with a lot more force than she had done previously, before looking over at her wife who nodded silently to her too as they stalked their way over to the fucking alien that was ruining their lives. They only got a few steps in before Okoye joined them at the side, her spear glistening nicely in the moment.
