Felix and I made our way through the rest of the day with some sort of ease.
I say some sort of ease because while the classes were all good, my interactions with Reynolds kept playing in my head. On a loop.
Everything from the club last night to when she told me she wanted me to be her TA.
That's not even the crazy bit. It's the fact that the only interaction between us that was amplified was when she put her hands on my shoulders and spoke into my ear.
Her scent, her soft hands, and her warm breath fanning down my neck. It all felt like too much in the moment that it actually made me start wondering,
Maybe women are for me. It's just a thought and nothing more.
Or maybe just her.
After our day ended Felix and I made our way back to our apartments. While he went up to the fourth floor, I walked to mine and Ella's apartment.
I thought it'd just be the two of us but I was surprised when I walked in and a Ava was there too. "Hey B, how was your first day?" Ava asked with a wide smile on her face.
"Hey guys," I smiled as I walked further in and sat on the seat next to Ella and Ava. "It was good, classes were all good and had an interesting interaction with a couple of the professors." I said folding my legs into the chair.
"They're all a little weird here, don't mind them though." Ella said with a smile.
"Ava, Felix has gone back to your guys apartment—"
"Oh yeah, he knows I'm over here. He'll survive without me for a couple hours." She said and I chuckled.
The three of us sat around talking until Ella insisted on us all making dinner together. We weren't exactly sure what to eat and were still deciding on something simple.
"Pasta is always a simple dish." I suggested.
"I would eat pasta right now but pasta after a drunken night out is not it." Ava said.
"Fair point."
"Maybe if we head to the corner store, we'll figure something out." Ella said.
"I agree," Ava said.
With that we made our way out of our apartment to the little corner store just down the road from us.
It'd only been a two days since I'd know Ella and Ava but they really did make me feel like I have friends again. Back home, I sort of fell into an isolation which took a toll on me slightly and I was worried California would be the same but it's not and I'm really thankful for that.
I'm thankful for Ella and Ava.
They reminded me a lot my old friends. Each in their own way, except this time I had a better feeling, like I wasn't going to get pushed to the side.
We got to the corner store and browsed the small aisles looking for ingredients of anything we could think of. "What about fajitas? They're simple enough." Ava said in a questioning tone.
"I actually agree to that, it's been a minute since I've had good fajitas." I said adding to her statement.
"Fajitas it is them." We finally agreed and went to the till to pay.
We walked along the small aisles when my eyes caught a familiar face. Reynolds—She looked more casual than earlier. I took a minute to stop and actually look at her.
She was wearing a pair of black flared fleece pants and a white tank top. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail with little baby hairs hanging out. She still had her gold jewellery on from earlier.
