After yesterday, the air has felt more clear between me and Kira. It feels good again. She keeps asking if I'm okay especially for tonight but not to a point where I feel like it's overbearing.

I feel like a weight got taken off my chest after last night, the amount of talking I did and opening up was hard but it was something I needed to do. I feel like it brought Kira and me close in a way.

It's been good.

We went out to dinner and fell asleep immediately after we got back. Sleeping in her arms again felt good. Extremely good.

However today, we have dinner with my dad—and my mom. She wanted to come along, and he wanted to show her that we're just a couple who like each other a lot.

This was all an attempt to get her to come around.

So that's what we're preparing for. Kira came up with a system for me to let her know how I was feeling discreetly. I'd tap her twice if I wanted us to leave, for good I'd squeeze her hand twice and if I flexed my fingers, I needed air from it all.

I'm just praying it'll work.

We started getting ready together, it wasn't anything elaborate just some warm clothes because this was Meet the Parents part two.

"It'll be a good night bella," she said softly. "And if it isn't, we'll come back here and make it something good between us."

I nodded and kissed her softly. "I hope when I meet your family it's not this chaotic." I sighed

"They're an interesting bunch, to say the least." She smiled.

"Come to think of it, you've never really told me about them," I said resting my head on her shoulder as she admired our outfits.

"I promise when we get back from dinner, I'll tell you all about my family and anything you want to know more about." She kissed me softly and I blushed. "Should we go?"

"Yeah," I nodded and took her hand in mine.

The restaurant wasn't far from the hotel. It was a quiet little Italian place. They had some good pasta and other dishes, their dessert was the best thing. The ice cream was something you had to try at least once while you're at the restaurant, it was good.

Kira held my hand as we walked inside, she gave me a little squeeze as reassurance while we walked inside.

The soft art in the walls stood out against the wood-paneled walls. The tables were all good but of a much darker type. There was a flower and candle lit on each table with Christmas crackers for each person.

I looked around for a second to see if I could see my dad. "Is that him?" Kira asked pointing to our left.

My dad's salt and pepper hair stood out. He also had a smile on his face. My mom sat next to him with a smile too.

I took a deep breath and Kira kissed my cheek before we walked up to him. "We'll be okay bambina," she said and we walked towards him.

"You guys made it," he smiled. "It's good to see you again Kira."

"Likewise," Kira said with her cold front up.

"Let's get some drinks." My mom said and called a waiter over.

We all ordered a red wine and asked them to leave the bottle next to the table. Thankfully they did.

"I think we owe you an apology." My dad took a breath. "Birdie, I know I've not been the best father at any point in time. I have my faults and I'm sorry. I never should've laid a hand on you or your mother while you were growing up. I'm sorry." He said a small smile coated my lips.
