Ivan was already waiting for us when we got downstairs and had an Uber ready. The drive over was nice, we all talked, even our Uber driver. He was a chilled guy who joined in our conversation and let us play music.
The little cafe was cute. On the outside, it looked quaint but once you were inside it had a very much garden vibe to it. There were a couple of tables on the inside but the majority were set outside.
We walked through the cafe to the outside and grabbed a table for three, it was just next to the large tree that was basically the center. The sun was shining through the glass ceiling perfectly bouncing off the white interior of the cafe.
"This place is kinda cute," I said as I took a moment to look around.
"I know right," Ava said with a smile. "We used to come here a lot in our first year but then we kinda drifted away from it."
"We should start coming like every Saturday or Sunday or something," I said still admiring how the whole color scheme of the place really looked nice.
The simple grey on the window and holders of the white tables matched the walls perfectly and the dark green placemats and caps of the salt and pepper all blended well with the green leaves and plants that surrounded us.
"I think we should, it'll be nice to be back here again," Ivan added.
"We could get everyone to tag along too," I said.
Ivan looked at me for a second. "Maybe just us three, everyone else is in this weird state." He said confidently and Ava agreed.
"An us thing then it is," I smiled, and shortly after a waitress came up to us to take our drink orders and hand us menus.
She handed us each a menu and we all got mimosas. We all looked over our menus as we debated what to get, "I really want a fruit bowl but I remember them being so big for just one person," Ava said.
"What if we all share it because I could go for some fruit right now," I said still scanning the menu.
I finally landed something to get, toast, cream cheese blueberries with syrup, and a butter croissant. Ava landed on an avocado and tomato bagel while Ivan had a loaded croissant with extra fruits on the side.
"I have to ask you guys something," Ivan said as he cut our side conversation short. We turned our attention fully to him waiting for an answer. "Is it just me or is everyone else kind of like...weird this year?" He questioned.
Ava and I looked at him curiously not exactly understanding. "I mean Livia is just kind of distant from the rest of us and only hangs out with Ella, same goes for Ella and I mean Felix is dealing with some shit so I get that but he's taking it out on the wrong people." Ivan sighed as he explained.
Without missing a beat Ava replied. "I know!" She said. "He's shitting on me for the weirdest shit, I said goodnight to him the other night and he told me I don't care about him enough when all I do is just try to be there for him," she rambled on and aired all her thoughts.
Ivan and I listened as she continued and listed all the things that she had on her mind. Offering our input now and again. "My god that felt good to get off my chest." She sighed and laid back and drank the rest of her mimosa. "I apologize for my rant," she said with a smile raising her hands and a smile on her face.
"If you need it, we're here to listen," I said with a smile.
"Maybe we all just need to separate for a while," Ivan added.
"That sounds like we're married," I chuckled and Ava followed along.
"I guess we might all be—except you, you have someone," Ava said as she turned to me with a smile.
