Thanksgiving break. My favourite time of year. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice, the weather gets colder and Christmas is around the corner, which means my birthday is around the corner.

I'm also flying back home for thanksgiving break today which is a bittersweet feeling. I'm glad I get to see my family, especially my mom because I miss her and meet my brothers girlfriend but I don't exactly want to go because I won't have the pleasure of seeing Ava and Ivan most days.

They've become the people I'm closest to here.

But fortunately the day isn't over for me. I have to get through economics first. I hate this class.

It's not boring or anything I just don't particularly like working with numbers so much, it drains me. It's also why I failed maths once in high school.

Only thirty minutes of our two hour long lecture has gone by.

"Therefore a growing GDP means prosperity for all," Dr Milestone said in his plain monotone voice.

The girl next to me sighed and rolled her head a little which prompted me to look over at her. "Sorry he's just said this over and over again. We get that if the county has more money the economy is doing well. It's not that hard," she explained.

I chuckled softly. "Right, I don't actually think he knows what his job is." I said quietly.

She nodded her head in agreement and stretched her hand out for a handshake. "Amity," she said.

"Birdie," I responded with a smile and shook her hand.

"I'm glad we won't have to see him for a week after today," she said.

"Me too, I hate to admit but his lectures are always the most boring ones." I said.

"I know, I'm glad break begins today though." She said. "Are you from around here?"

"No, I'm from New York. So I'm flying home later tonight." I said with a smile.

"That's crazy, me too—I mean I'm from Florida but I'm flying home tonight as well." She said a little louder than before which caused people to turn.

We were silent for a minute and let everyone's attention turn forward again. "We should get an Uber to the airport together, it saves costs and all." She proposed.

"Yeah okay, just text me when you're ready to go and I can order one for us." I said and almost immediately she flipped her phone around for me to put my number in, so I did.

We talked a little longer and found out we're staying in the same building except she lives on the top floor.

Surprisingly we have a lot in common and talking with her felt nice, even if it was in the middle of a lecture.

She stopped talking in the middle of her sentence when her phone lit up. "Sorry it's my..." she trailed off.

"Don't worry," I said softly and turned back to face ahead.

She sighed again next to me. "Everything okay?" I asked her.

"Yeah it's I'm dating or seeing this person—we aren't together, and she's been icing me out for days. She just texted me to see her after this lecture but before I go home." She said.

"Damn any idea why she might be so cold to you?" I asked her not really wanting to overstep, especially since we'd just met.

"I've been seeing her since last year as we aren't dating. I want more but she says "she isn't ready" it's been a year and I don't want to wait around forever." She explained.
