Kira's POV

It's officially been a week since I'd seen Birdie in the club all pressed up against my ex-fiancée. That wasn't a pretty sight for me, none of it was and I'd felt my jealousy skyrocket in a matter of seconds.

I'd never been so jealous in my life to the point where I even started questioning why Birdie made me feel this way.

Yes, I'm a jealous person but never to that extent before. A part of me liked it while a second part of me, felt like it wasn't worth it all.

I didn't want to dig myself in too deep with her.

However, it's been a week since then, and Birdie and I haven't spoken. She has exams this week so I'm betting on that being the reason which I don't mind at all because her exams come first always.

But she hasn't texted me, only once this whole week to tell me she won't be coming to our TA sessions this week. I accepted that and moved on to ask how she was but that was five days ago and I haven't received a response from her.

I'm classes we have small interactions but even then she seems to be uninterested. It was a weird flip for me because, on Friday night, she passed out on my bed, fell asleep in my arms, and spent all of Saturday morning with me curled up in my lap while I worked. She only left in the evening and even that was fine because she'd called me.

Sunday passed without any problem but it was like Monday there was radio silence. Apart from that one message, I've gotten nothing.

I've sent message after message to check if she's okay and if she needs anything I'm on my one call away from her.

She's read them all but hasn't responded.

I didn't care the first couple of days and narrowed it down to her just being busy, but Thursday was the same when I knew she had no exams after Thursday. She was ignoring me and I tried to understand why but nothing came to my mind.

I ran through each and every conversation we had in my head, over and over again. But I couldn't think of anything I'd said or done to make her have a sudden change.

I sighed at my desk and looked at the time. "Right, the hour is over, hand in your papers and pray for the best. If you fail this, you fail your midterms." I said to my students.

It was their first exam in my class. Some of them had potential but the others needed to work hard, extremely hard to catch up and make the minimum grade point average.

One by one they handed their papers in and left. Aberdeen was behind a couple of students and she was avoiding my eye as she handed her paper in.

"Aberdeen stay," I said harshly.

She stood to the side and waited for everyone to finish handing in their papers before I got up to close the door.

"What is up with you?" I asked her the second I closed the door.

"Nothing, I've been busy." She said and shrugged.

"Clearly," I said. "Birdie, a text takes two minutes to send."

"I did tell you I was busy, exams are stressful." She said. "I'm just glad they're over now." She said.

"Exactly, I'll need you in a TA session tomorrow," I said as I rearranged the papers on my desk.

"I can't come. I've got plans tomorrow." She said flatly.

Something in me told me to stop trying to get her to talk. It felt pointless like I was fighting a losing battle against someone who'd made up their mind over something they weren't willing to talk about.
