I slept the entire night, to be honest, sleeping always helped me avoid my issues and it's a bad trait I have but I don't know how else to handle them in an effective way. Especially if the person I have an issue with isn't exactly reachable. And well when it's my own issue...sleeping helps me come up with a solution.
I woke up when the sun was barely up. It was seven when I woke up and the sun was just about rising.
No one else seemed to be awake yet so I decided I'd go on a run. I wouldn't be out long anyways maybe I'd run three miles, four if I can.
I threw on a pair of dark blue sport shorts and a matching sports bra. Over the top I added a fitted cream coloured zip up jacket. White socks and some basic running shoes to finish off.
I made my way downstairs quietly and grabbed some water and the protein bars my mom still keeps. Once I finished eating them I was out.
The cold air hitting my face and legs felt good in a way. I enjoyed the mix of iciness and warmth that coursed through me as I ran. I ran along the docks that sat behind most of the houses on my street, I made my way to the first park that was about twenty minutes from my house, I ran the trail through that and came out the other side which led me to the green park near my best friends house. Or her old house now.
By this point I was pushing five miles on my run, I felt good and didn't want to stop but I knew I needed to.
I took a minute to stop in the green park and just admire the park and the suburb lights in the distance.
Some of the houses were decorated in thanksgiving decore which was nice. Others were very plain with their front yard flower beds as decorations.
The sun was in the sky but the slight overcast of clouds covered it every now and again.
I stretched a little and decided to make my way home.
But my start was stopped when I spotted someone familiar walking my way. And I guess she noticed me too because of how she ran up to me.
"Oh my gosh Birdie!" Zoë hugged me tightly. "I didn't know you were home, how are you?" She asked me with a large smile.
"Hi Zoë," I hugged her back. "I'm only home for thanksgiving but I'm good, how are you?" I asked her.
"I'm good—we're good," she said gesturing to her girlfriend, Quinn.
Quinn looked different compared to the last time I saw her. Her hair was longer and it seemed more like a honey blonde now than a platinum blonde like last time. Her lips held a sweet smile.
"Hi Quinn," I smiled at her.
"Hi birdie,"
"You still run huh?" Zoë chuckled.
"I do, I still love it," I smiled.
"There was always a reason why only one of us made the track team in high school. I still hate it," she said with the a smile.
"I remember sophomore year when you tried out and ran the quarter mile and gave up," I chuckled and so did Quinn.
"I still don't regret my decision," she smiled. "But I swear I'm running around more today than I ever was in high school." She added.
"Getting sporty and pushing 21, live up your twenties I guess." I chuckled.
"Don't remind me how old I'm getting—when are you back for Christmas?" She asked me.
"I'm not sure yet, I don't know if I'll be able to fly back home for Christmas yet," I said honestly.
"Then we really have to make the most of it while you're here. I'll talk to Letty and we'll have to have a proper catchup while you're home. I wanna know all about how California's treating you," Zoë said.
