It's been two days since the event and things have somehow gotten better.

Sasha and Savannah have taken the last two days to be bed-bound, just like us. As far as I'm concerned, serenity and Skye go to the kids' club every day and have a blast which gives them time alone.

We've also been talking about the simple connections Sasha was able to make at the event. She got a few jobs lined up for the new year which was exciting.

The whole morning Birdie and I have been in bed, talking and deciding what to do. So far it isn't looking like we're gonna move.

"Did you like everyone you met at the event?" She asked me softly.

"I did," I said softly. "I have to say, I was wrong about Valentina," I said.

"She's nice right?" Birdie looked at me surprised and I agreed. "She used to scare me shitless in high school." She chuckled. "Now I just see her as Letty's fiancée, especially after last night."

"I think a lot of people scare you shitless bambina," I smiled at her.

"Just Sasha, she's still scary." She said quickly. "But I think after this trip, she's just your best friend. It's nice in a way, getting to know your friends and you getting to know mine."

"It is, I'm getting to know the people who made you, you," I kissed her forehead softly.

"I like this for us, the freedom, no sneaking around. I feel good about this."

"Me too, it feels right," I said. "I promise to make it feel the same as it is now when we get back to California."

"You and I both know that's not true Ki," she said softly. "Californias just too complicated—for now at least."

"What if I make it possible? It obviously can't be the same but what if we have weekend getaways, go to San Francisco for the weekend, San Jose, places no one knows us so that we can just be a couple and not hide." I offered.

I knew this was risky. Way beyond risky. But I wanted to do this for her. I know that hiding gets tiring because there's so much you want to do but can't do.

If us going away every weekend or every other weekend just to be together makes her happy then I'm willing to do that for her.

"Are you serious?" She asked.

"Yeah, I am. Maybe not every weekend but every other weekend we could go away." I smiled.

She blushed. "I'd actually really like that." She said and I agreed. She moved onto my chest. "Hiding our relationship isn't easy. I get what Val and Letty had to go through."

"It is bella but we're making it work." I kissed her softly.

"Do you know what we haven't done?" She asked.

"What?" I asked confusedly.

"Christmas shopping. I mean I haven't gotten you anything yet," she said.

"You don't need to bella, you are enough for me," I said and she blushed.

"I know but I want to get you something meaningful, you deserve it—that's what I'm gonna do today." She said.

"What? Go Christmas shopping?"

"Yeah, I'll go with Zoë and Letty," she sat up. "I know they're both in the city today and I need to get you something." She said.

"Okay we'll get dressed and I'll come with you." I sat up too.

"No," she said halting my stand. "I'm going with friends, you can go with Nadia and Sasha."
