"Bakit hija? Is there any problem?"
I asked again.
"Yes si Ma'am Lopez no other than, dahil si Ma'am Lopez ang head organizer ng event, kaya sa bahay niya ikaw pupunta, Miss Sanchez." she explained that made me froze.
"It's Sunday, there's no school, and those documents need to be submitted to the university executives tomorrow. That's why I'm rushing to get her signature," she explained to me.
A few moments passed before I could think of an excuse to tell Ma'am Castro. "I don’t know where Ma'am Lopez’s house is, so I might not be able to deliver those papers," sabi ko na may halong pag-aalinlangan sa kaniya.
"Oh, about that thing. Her house is quite near the university, in Valencia High Subdivision. Here’s her address," she said, handing me a card.
I hesitated but took it anyway.
"What if mawala po ako?" I asked, pouting slightly.
Ma'am Castro raised an eyebrow at me. "Why would you get lost?"
"Well, you never know po Ma'am hehe," I said with a nervous chuckle, trying to cover my uncertainty.
"Are you hesitating to go to Ma'am Lopez’s house?" she asked, her tone laced with meaning.
"It's not that, ma'am. It’s just that sometimes, unexpected things happen," I reasoned, trying to sound convincing.
Ma'am Castro sighed deeply, clearly not amused by my excuses. "Miss Sanchez, we’re doing you a favor by involving you in this, and Miss Kasidi trusts you to handle the matter. So please, don't hesitate or overthink it."
I looked down at the card in my hand, feeling the weight of her words. "I understand, ma'am. I’ll do my best," I finally said, trying to sound more confident.
"Good. We’re counting on you," Ma'am Castro said, her expression softening slightly. "And remember, if you run into any problems, don't hesitate to call. We need this done properly."
I nodded, feeling a mix of responsibility and anxiety. "Sige po, ma'am. I’ll make sure everything goes smoothly."
"Thank you, hija."
With that, I turned to leave, my mind racing with thoughts about the task ahead and the expectations placed upon me.
