She crouched down in front of the small herb and smiled at the tiny budding tomatoes. She had sown the seeds herself two months ago, and now, it was finally coming to fruition. These weren't the only ones; she had nurtured many more plants here. When she first arrived, the garden barely had any greenery. But now, seeing her kitchen garden flourish, filled her with a sense of deep satisfaction.
She had come to take a stroll through her kitchen garden to clear the cobwebs from her head. Restlessness hadn't left her side since their confrontation in his study. Even though an entire day had passed, she was still stuck in that moment. Shaking her thoughts, she decided to head back to her room and try to sleep. It was past midnight.
She slipped into the mansion through the kitchen door, heading towards her room when a faint noise caught her attention. She stopped.
"Do you want some water?" it was Chloe's voice. She frowned, wondering who she was talking to. Curious, she made her way towards the living hall. The sight before her was far from expectation.
Chloe was talking to Sin who seemed to have just arrived.
"Have you eaten yet? The food might be cold by now," Chloe asked Sin.
"I am not hungry," Sin grunted, teetering on the edge of his temper.
Suddenly, Chloe seized his hand, bringing it forward to a closer look, "you are bleeding." Nivi watched his expression darkening from confusion to murderous in a fraction of a second.
Sin glared at Chloe furiously before yanking his hand back and growling, "you.."
"Chloe," Nivi cut in, causing Sin to swiftly redirect his gaze towards her. She fast-marched towards them, her heart in her throat.
"What are you doing here? Go back to your room," Nivi instructed Chloe, slightly annoyed. Sin would have unleashed his temper on her if she hadn't intervened.
"I was just asking him if he needed something," Chloe answered, too oblivious to the danger she had almost brought upon herself.
"I am here for that. You go back to your room," she persisted in a steely voice.
"Alright," Chloe replied before turning slightly towards Sin.
"Good night Mr. Volkov," she regarded Sin with a special smile and turned towards Nivi," Good night, Niv." After saying that she left for her room.
As soon as they were alone, Nivi looked up at Sin who still looked irritated. The moment their eyes connected, she dropped her gaze.
"I apologize on her behalf. She can be annoying sometimes," she apologized.
"I don't have a good feeling about her," Sin shared, causing her to glance up at him. His countenance had softened, his gaze tender and soaking with affection as they took her in. He moved closer, letting her catch a whiff of alcohol. He was drunk.
"Tell her I am yours and that if she dared to even look at me, you'll gouge her eyes out," he murmured softly, his voice tinged with a wistful longing. He wanted her to assert her possessiveness over him- to hear her say that he belonged to her and only her.
She had snared him so completely that now even the slightest flirtation from other women felt intolerable. He was entirely hers. Only she had the right to flirt with him, to love him and only she could destroy him.
She blinked away the haze he had put her in by his words.
"You are a celebrity. She is just dazzled by you, that's all," she explained, averting her gaze.
