Chapter 46: Dreamy Resort

The door to the main hall wasn't completely sealed off like city doors, but rather like a typical Taoist attic door, made of wood with a lattice window covered in paper.

The players could vaguely see outside through the gaps at the top, including the dark shadow swaying outside the door.

After a while, the footsteps disappeared.

But everyone inside knew that whatever it was had not actually left.

After an unknown amount of time, the bespectacled player could no longer endure the silence. He cautiously peered out from behind the cover to check the situation at the door.

In doing so, he came face-to-face with a head pressed against the gap in the door, peering inside the Taoist temple.

The head was silhouetted against the light from outside, making it hard to see its face and eyes. In fact, it seemed to have no "face" at all.

It was a smooth skull with a thin layer of skin stretched gruesomely over the bones, most of the skeleton exposed.

The bespectacled man's heart nearly stopped. He gasped, almost falling to the ground in shock.

The other four players, hearing the noise from his direction, turned to look and were also stunned. The sight was indeed beyond ordinary imagination.

Not knowing if he sensed the movement inside, the figure suddenly raised a similarly disfigured hand, exposing its bony fingers against the door.

Chen Lehe, who wasn't very brave, and the female player seemed to have their hearts gripped by a hand, afraid to breathe, causing pain in their chests.

Sheng stared at that face, his fingers slowly retracting, looking shocked by this abrupt and terrifying scene.

In the next moment, the quiet shrine suddenly stirred; a golden light appeared on the door. Even without sound, the players could feel the silent scream emitted by the monster at the entrance.

The chaotic footsteps grew fainter until they disappeared.

After a while, there was movement inside the room.

The male player who had faced that face first still hadn't fully composed himself: "What was that just now? Was it some kind of human experiment? Didn't the Yu family have some lab here?"

Chen Lehe shook his head decisively: "No, this instance definitely won't involve human experiments."

The expressions of the other three players darkened.

That meant they could only consider the supernatural aspect. Compared to a science fiction scenario, most players naturally disliked and feared supernatural instances.

At least chaotic experiments and monsters had clues to follow, but things that fell outside the realm of science wouldn't bother explaining so much to you.

"Right, and even in an apocalyptic scenario, how could something that's just a skeleton still be wandering outside? Has anyone ever seen such a thing?"

Fu Yanghui looked at Chen Lehe appreciatively. He hadn't expected that, despite Chen Lehe appearing timid and cautious, he was quite observant. It was rare for new players to notice the classification of the instances upon entering.

Fu Yanghui said, "No matter what that thing outside is, at least we know this shrine has a restraining effect on it, and staying inside will be very safe."

"But the problem is, how do we get back?"

Fu Yanghui smiled wryly: "I have a feeling that the path down the mountain is filled with those things."
