Chapter 94: Deep Sea (XVIII)

Upon opening his eyes, Mu Sheng saw a ceiling decorated in an ancient and opulent style, with intricate patterns that were beautiful but made him feel a bit dizzy after staring for too long.

He propped himself up, realizing that the aftereffects of his previous state hadn't fully worn off yet. The first thing he did upon waking was to survey his surroundings. It was clear that this was no longer the research institute.

The institute's facilities were limited, and even its most luxurious rooms didn't compare to this one, where even the bedside table ornaments were antiques.

Mu Sheng's gaze shifted away from the exquisite and luxurious vase, as he searched the room for any details that could confirm his suspicions. After a while, he confirmed that he must have been taken out of the research institute by Blair.

He only remembered that before he lost consciousness, the merman and Blair had fought fiercely. What had happened to the merman in the end?

Mu Sheng lifted the covers and suddenly froze, looking down at the pair of slender and well-proportioned human legs before him. Legs?

Where was his fish tail?

Mu Sheng double-checked to make sure he was still in the Deep Sea scenario; there were no signs that the items in his backpack had been used. So why did he have human legs?

He examined his pale arms in shock, finding no traces of deep-sea creatures or any markings.

The mirror by the bed reflected the face and body of a young man, apparently just past adolescence, with still fluffy long hair that was slightly curled and reflected a deep blue in the sunlight. His eyes were azure, his lips a pale red, and his lip beads remained intact.

No matter how he looked at it, he appeared to be just a human boy, even if people stared at him frequently, they would only see his long hair.

What had happened?

There was no one else in the room to explain this to Mu Sheng, so he could only search the room for any clues. His legs seemed ordinary but felt somewhat weak; Mu Sheng bit his lower lip and, holding onto furniture, managed to take a slow turn around the room, sweating profusely from his pale forehead. His complexion also looked unhealthily pale.

The dry feeling in his throat was alleviated after he drank the two glasses of water on the table. The placement of the glasses was just right, as if the person who had poured the water had known he would come here and be thirsty, preparing it thoughtfully in advance.

The water was still warm, indicating that the person had left only recently and might return soon.

Mu Sheng picked up the remote control from the table, and the TV was still working, showing the news channel, which was broadcasting updates about the Deep Sea Research Institute.

It wasn't necessarily lucky for Mu Sheng, as the impact of the Deep Sea Research Institute incident and its subsequent effects were so extensive that they were considered catastrophic. Many programs had urgently adjusted their schedules to broadcast related news.

This allowed residents to stay informed about the event, make necessary preparations, transfer assets, and even seek refuge.

The owner maintained a professional demeanor, but his brows were unconsciously furrowed. The atmosphere of the news was tense, and Mu Sheng combined the information he had with the news to speculate about what had happened after he fell unconscious.

It seemed that the merman was unable to take him away, and in an abnormal state, it unleashed a powerful surge of energy, attempting to incapacitate all the other beings present. If the commanding officer on site hadn't reacted in time, the entire research institute might have been flattened, and the staff inside would have been no exception.
