Chapter 80: The Deep Sea (IV)

The laboratory originally had limited permissions, but now that the people inside have almost no restrictions on monitoring and accessing data.

Outside the research institute's room, the surveillance footage of the nearby ocean was quickly retrieved: the sea surface was not particularly calm, but fortunately, there was no large-scale deep-sea creature attack as before.

Everyone in the room breathed a sigh of relief. However, the strange behavior of the deep-sea creatures in the water evoked both fear and a hint of excitement.

Regardless of why these deep-sea creatures behaved this way, the recorded data and the underlying reasons were undoubtedly excellent research projects, which could significantly deepen their understanding of the deep-sea creatures.

"Increase in aggressiveness."

"Common behaviors observed. Reactions and electromagnetic waves are highly consistent. Could there be reasons such as shared brains or interconnected thoughts?"

The researchers, with determination, summarized and reported the findings despite the eerie and stagnant gazes of the deep-sea creatures.

They had faced bloody project samples before, but there was still a significant difference between living and dead specimens, especially concerning the eyes of these deep-sea creatures.

The researcher responsible for this deep-sea creature wiped away a cold sweat and asked, "Why are their eyes all red?"

No one was able to answer his question for the moment.

Blair, clearly intrigued by the unusual scene, made direct eye contact with the crimson-eyed piranha, his deep blue eyes showing no sign of discomfort. He acted as if he were completely oblivious to the eerie and unsettling silence within the room.

The piranha's behavior was also quite peculiar. Despite being a low-level deep-sea creature with no apparent intelligence, its exposed, pale teeth and its steady gaze back at Blair gave the impression of a sentient being—or at least, something more intelligent.

Blair's smile tightened as he looked at the deep-sea creatures in the tank. Amidst the astonished expressions of the researchers nearby, he spoke a few data points with an unaffected demeanor.

The male researcher, comparing the data he quickly noted with the information received from his colleague, was shocked to find an extremely small margin of error, making the data completely usable.

It was almost as if Blair was not human... The researcher observed the golden-haired man's handsome profile and his eyes that seemed almost inorganic under the light and thought: he resembled a highly precise, emotionless research machine.

Blair continued speaking, and even though he didn't turn his head, it felt as though he saw the researcher's stunned expression. He subtly, yet threateningly, remarked:

"It seems I might have missed out on a talented individual. Is your failure to note down these observations because you can communicate telepathically with the upcoming personnel?"

The male researcher dared not treat Blair's seemingly amused comment as a joke. As if under the watchful eye of a venomous snake, he snapped back to reality and sweatily recorded Blair's subsequent instructions.

He now fully understood why Blair was called the tyrant of the research institute. It wasn't just his powerful family background but also his stifling dominance in research.

Ruthless and overwhelming, his control was as suffocating as a mountain.

It was hard not to feel that everything in the research institute was like pieces on an expensive chessboard, ready to be discarded or replaced as long as it achieved the final desired outcome.
