Chapter 86: Deep Sea (X)

When Blair bluntly exposed his thoughts and intentions, Bo Sheng did not get angry or embarrassed.

The captain of the personal guards tried several times to speak but ultimately lowered his head and said nothing.

Seeing Bo Sheng's calm demeanor, Blair's heart skipped a beat.

Although Blair had never deliberately learned much about Bo Sheng, the information he gathered from others and occasional news reports was enough for Blair to build a mental profile of Bo Sheng. Keywords included: conservative, rigidly traditional, disciplined, self-contained.

Bo Sheng seemed to have nothing to do with the realm of entertainment. His life was entirely about work or training, let alone romance. According to Bo Sheng's officers, their commander might never actively pursue someone he liked.

It might be that Bo Sheng would eventually refuse all the various marriage proposals from different circles until he no longer felt the need to refuse. Alternatively, he might give a lesson to those who lacked insight until no one dared to disturb him with such "trivial matters."

When confronted by Blair, Bo Sheng looked down coldly and, without knowing what he was thinking, admitted, "You're right." He acknowledged that his attitude towards the mermaid was unusual, even unconsciously going against his own principles and introducing personal bias into his otherwise formulaic work.

Logically speaking, Blair should have had the upper hand even in a verbal confrontation, but there was no trace of victory or self-satisfaction on his face. Instead, his expression was filled with vigilance, rejection, and guardedness.

It was as if he were a cornered beast, irritated and furious, but unable to take immediate countermeasures due to his own glaring weaknesses.

Blair found it hard to suppress the dark side and anger he had long been trying to control. He glanced at the mermaid with ears perked up, clearly listening to their conversation, and barely managed to maintain his composure, even making some concessions.

Blair: "I'll get you what you wanted as soon as possible. Leave now and leave immediately after you get it."

Mu Sheng blinked.

What he wanted? Indeed, the distinguished Bo Sheng appearing in this laboratory was not simply due to the so-called "unexpected situation needing a temporary rest," but rather for another purpose.

Could it be related to his mission?

If this had happened at the very beginning, when Bo Sheng first entered the room where Mu Sheng was kept, Blair's concession would have led Bo Sheng to turn and leave immediately.

But now it's different. Bo Sheng had other, higher-priority tasks to complete.

Bo Sheng: "For mission-related matters, you can contact my personal guards; they are capable of safely taking the items."

Blair, with a smirk that didn't reach his eyes, said, "According to the rules, outside of mission matters, you can't stay here as long as you want."

He knew Bo Sheng's character well and emphasized the word "rules" deliberately.

It was like emphasizing the highest command to an AI robot.

But Bo Sheng's response was calm: "You're right, I'll submit the companion report to the professor immediately."

He tried to imagine the stern, authoritative elder's reaction upon seeing the mermaid's impact and the materials, and found it somewhat amusing and ridiculous, but Bo Sheng didn't mind.
