Chapter 78: Deep Sea (II)

Mu Sheng entered the instance with almost no memory of his previous experiences. He doesn't know what happened before or what his living conditions are. Unlike previous instances, this one is almost completely devoid of interpersonal interactions.

However, when he hears a voice, Mu Sheng immediately realizes that it belongs to the deep-sea creatures. More specifically, it's the "mermaids" and "mermen" that the NPCs mentioned after entering the instance.

Both types have human upper bodies and fish tails, so there's not much difference between them, just some variations in appearance, abilities, and temperaments. Mermen tend to be more fierce and wild, appearing less humane. Mermaids, on the other hand, are relatively gentler, closer to human aesthetics and the legendary appearance, but this is only superficial.

Whether mermaids or mermen, as deep-sea creatures, their temperaments are generally harsh toward both their own kind and humans. Mu Sheng vaguely recalls that sound-based abilities and mental control are skills more commonly associated with mermaids.

It seems that due to the great distance and multiple layers of buildings between them, the humans nearby are not significantly affected by the deep-sea creatures' influence. However, the deep-sea creatures in the room, which had already been restless, react strongly. The sounds of their bodies slamming against the glass become more frequent, louder, and more intense. It's not just the piranhas, but a wider range of deep-sea creatures displaying this strange behavior.

A shark opens its mouth wide, revealing its sharp teeth without any restraint. Anyone who sees it would not doubt that such terrifying biting power could sever a person in half in an instant. It stares intently at the humans in this space, and even with the soundproofing activated, its roar can still be heard.

The researchers are silently recording data, their hands trembling slightly. If it weren't for them being in the research institute... if it weren't on land... if there weren't barriers and special glass to isolate the dangers...

"Hey... are all these deep-sea creatures watching the higher-ups?"

Even the least sensitive researchers can notice that the creatures are targeting the same spots with surprising consistency. The institute, which had returned to its stunning "aquarium" scene after the lights came back on, has suddenly turned into a bloody and eerie hunting ground under these strange circumstances.

It even creates an illusion that if any command were given, the protective measures for humans might instantly fail. Then the institute would fall into a state of red fear.

The first target of the creatures is undoubtedly the high-level official who was once arrogant but is now silent. Under the menacing "gazes" from all directions, the official can no longer maintain his previous high and mighty attitude; his legs are visibly shaking.

Not to mention having any thoughts about the beautiful mermaid in the ecological tank, he now finds it hard to even remember his own name. The man's mind and vision are filled with eyes, all different in shape but all crimson, cruel, and bloody.

Trembling, the official realizes that these creatures cannot come out to harm him and slowly relaxes his tensed state, shouting, "What are you still doing? Quickly calm them all down!"

He now only dares to command others, as all misfortune began when he tried to approach the punishment button. Even though he now hates these disgusting and terrifying deep-sea creatures, he doesn't dare to confront them himself.

Under immense pressure, the security personnel approach the control buttons, swaying slightly and struggling to maintain their balance.

The official commands, "What are you waiting for? Besides the mermaid, electrocute them all! We can catch them later."
