Chapter 66: Dreamy Resort

Pan Mao kicked a trash can in frustration. "Haven't all the suspicious candidates been found? Why is it that this answer just won't do!"

Recalling the player who had volunteered to be the first to try and ultimately failed, sitting nearby, Pan Mao felt both guilty and anxious. "What's gone wrong?"

The player who had failed the attempt and lost the qualification to verify the clue task smiled bitterly and began to comfort Pan Mao instead. "It's okay. If I could really succeed, I'd definitely make a profit. In situations like this, there are always risks and benefits."

"Compared to those players who randomly tried to verify things and ended up worse off, my situation is already better."

According to the system's earlier reminder, even if someone randomly guessed the correct answer to the clue task, it wouldn't count without solid evidence and reasoning.

Just a moment ago, two players had ignored the warnings and tried to take advantage of the situation, ending up losing half their data values.

In the last two dangerous days of the dungeon, that was almost like receiving a notice of critical condition.

Pan Mao sighed, forcing himself to suppress his anxious emotions and think through the situation: "Yu Zhao, Yu Yangxu, Zhuang Niannian, Madam Shen—these four have problems; how could this be wrong?"

As Pan Mao muttered, the other players lowered their heads, frowning as they carefully thought about whether they had missed anything in their assigned segments.

One player suddenly recalled something. "Right! The place I checked with Chen Lehe was called Shi Zheng, right? When we went there, he wasn't home. We turned around the entire villa, and it was all empty, with no lights on, so we thought there was no one inside."

He slowly proposed the somewhat unsettling speculation, "Could it be... that someone was actually inside?"

What kind of existence would remain in the villa but not turn on any lights?

The other players pondered this for a moment and reported that nothing was abnormal on their ends, nor was there anything strange like the Shi family's villa.

Fu Yanghui narrowed his eyes, confirming the player's statement. "Even if Shi Zheng himself wasn't at home, there should have been servants inside handling cleaning and daily maintenance."

"If there was no one inside, and the lights weren't on, it's possible all the servants were driven out."

"There could be many reasons for that. Perhaps both Shi Zheng and his son went out and didn't like having anyone in the villa, but in this dungeon, a more reasonable guess would be... there's something unsightly in the villa, or rather, a secret they don't want others to discover."

Everyone understood that, of course, the second guess was more plausible.

One player exclaimed excitedly, "Yes! So, combined with the problematic Shi family members, the answer to the clue task is either five or six! Let's hurry up and try again!"

Pan Mao sharply stopped him. "What are you trying to test? Do you want to die faster?"

Fu Yanghui agreed. "Such speculation won't be accepted by the system. We need more evidence and clues."

Pan Mao turned to Chen Lehe. "You went over with him, right? Did you notice anything?"

Pan Mao's brows were slightly furrowed; he actually had never liked Chen Lehe much.
