Jennie came to work the next day with a tape recorder in her hand. She was considered the only person who had interviewed Ren since he bailed the press conference yesterday. Although she was highly praised by the editor, right now, she had a terrible headache and didn't have much energy to continue her day. She tried to stay until the working hours ended.

When she walked out of the elevator, she saw someone at the company's entrance. Jennie took a glance and frowned. She couldn't see the person clearly. That person looked familiar.

Just as she was puzzled, she heard Mei say, "Hey, handsome ~ You came to pick Jennie?"

Jennie froze, then took another two steps forward as she fixed her eyes on that figure. What is V doing here?

How did Mei know him?

"Why are you here?" Jennie asked as she stopped in front of him.

V nodded politely at Mei and then glanced at Jennie. "I was just passing by. My company is not far from your place anyway. I came here to pick you up."

"Wow, you are so lucky, Jen ~" Mei poked Jennie with her finger. "This man is so handsome. Your luck with men is pretty good! He is even willing to come and pick you up. Handsome, our Sister Jen just came to the entertainment department. She has a lot of work to do every day. You better feel sorry for her!"

"I will." V answered straightforwardly.

Jennie sighed. "Stop gossiping, he's my younger brother!"

"Ugh ..." Mei's expression immediately changed. Her face began to turn bashful. Then, she looked at V, whose face immediately became ugly, "So he's your brother?"

"There is no blood relationship." V suddenly smiled and curled his lips towards Mei. The meaning behind his words was very clear. 'This woman and I are not related by blood. I will come to pick her up after work every day. Our relationship is unusual. You don't have to keep winking at me.'

Mei curled her lips and giggled. Then, she pulled her colleague away.

"Do you really have to pick me up? We're not living together." Jennie lifted her hand and scratched her head. This won't do. Her head still hurt too much. She waved her hand. "Forget it. I'll let you pick me up today. I've got a headache."

"A headache?" V was initially unhappy with the way Jennie told their relationship, but when he heard she got a headache, he immediately caressed her forehead in worry.

"It's nothing, I'm fine. Maybe it's because I still don't fit into a new job and need to absorb so much information until my brain can't accept it." Jennie pushed his hand away gently and got into the blue SUV on the side of the road.

After V got in the car, he kept looking at Jennie while driving away, "Are you sick? I once read that pregnant women are weaker than usual, and you don't fit with the city temperature, where it sometimes rains and sometimes is too cold."

Jennie said nothing but instead covered her seemingly flat tummy with her hands. "I will go to bed early. Don't think of stealing food from my house. I will order food for you. After you send me, you must go back to your house. "

There was a moment of silence in the car. Jennie frowned. "I'm talking to you, do you hear me?"

She turned her head and saw V pretending not to hear her words. "Why don't I cook for you?"

Jennie immediately glared at V.

The company was not far from her residential area. Soon, they arrived and V stopped the car in front of her apartment. "We're here."

Jennie glanced at him. She didn't believe that V would cook. After taking care of him for so many years, this brat had always been trying to get something to eat from her house. "Fine then. You can stay."

Jennie ran to the supermarket to buy a bunch of all kinds of ingredients. Under V's supervision, they both carried the two bags while walking home.

As Jennie was happily sitting in the kitchen picking vegetables and watching V cut the meat seriously, he suddenly turned around and asked, "Can I move here?"

"No."

V pulled a long face. "You're pregnant now and you need someone to take care of you."

"Pregnant women aren't sick, so there's no need for you to take care of me. I can be alone."

"Jennie, can you stop pretending to be tough!" V said in a low voice.

Her hand that was picking the leaves paused for a moment before she took a deep breath and said, "Cut your meat! Stop with the nonsense. You will cut your finger if you don't pay attention."

The result is... This prodigal brat really cut his finger.

Thus, Jennie had no choice but to run back to the bedroom and look for a Band-Aid. She dragged V to the couch. She scolded him in the tone of a reprimanded child, "You're already grown-up, but you can still cut your finger just by cutting some meat. This really worries me."

V looked at her gentle and meticulous expression and slowly revealed a smile on his lips. "That's why you must let me stay with you. I can't do anything alone."

Jennie looked at him and gently caressed his head, "You did not take the graduate exam but went out to work. Now you have a nice house with a car, so why are you always thinking about coming to my place?"

V pursed his lips. "I want to live with you."

"No." Jennie looked at him sternly. "You should know what kind of attitude I would have when you knew that we weren't related by blood. Isn't it obvious that I'm sending you on your way?"

"I don't care. I still wanted to stay here with you."

"In any case, there's no point in discussing this. Just continue cutting the meat and be careful, don't let your wounded fingers touch the water."

"I've never seen you so cruel. Even my finger was injured to such an extent, yet you still want me to chop the meat."

"So you're planning to leave now?"

"Alright, alright, I'll go cut the meat." V stood up with a dark face. Jennie couldn't help but laugh as she looked at his back.

It wasn't until V went to the kitchen that her smile faded.

Was she really acting tough?

If she's not, how can she survive in this world?

When V came out of the kitchen, he found Jennie had run to the bedroom to sleep. By that time, the light in the living room was dim, and the lights were not on in the bedroom. In a dark room, Jennie was lying quietly on the bed, breathing heavily.

V could hear the heaviness of her breathing, so he hurried over and turned on the bedside lamp. "Jennie, wake up."

Jennie furrowed her brows and exhaled. She weakly waved her hand. "Eat it yourself. Let me sleep for a while."

V felt that something was wrong. He extended his hand to her forehead and touched her face. Her body was abnormally hot.

V immediately went to the bathroom and washed a towel with cold water. He slowly helped her sit up, undid her collar, wiped her face and neck with the cold towel. Then covered her body with the quilt. V sat beside her, holding her hand while placing the towel on her head.

"There's less than a month before the Spring Festival. Look at your current health. If no one takes care of you, then no one will even know when you faint at home." V held Jennie's hand gently and put her hand under the blanket. He looked at her weakened state with a sigh. He put his chin on her head and hugged her tightly.

A gentle kiss landed on her forehead. The moonlight shone through the window as the branches danced and shone in front of the window.
