Jennie's eyelids were heavy, and she could not open them even after trying for so long. She tried again slowly and finally caught a glimpse of the light, and the pungent smell of disinfectant assaulted her nose.

Was she in the hospital?

Jennie subconsciously touched her belly.

"You're awake?" A voice lightly echoed from the side of the sickbed. Moments later, someone adjusted the blanket on her body.

Jennie turned around and saw V sitting on the edge of the bed. She let out a breath but kept her hands on her lower abdomen with an anxious look in her eyes.

Seeing her expression, V knew that for her right now, other than this child, there was nothing else that could make her so nervous. He pursed his lips and said lightly, "The child is fine, but not you. The doctor said that you are anemic, mentally weak and that your fetus is unstable."

Jennie froze for a moment, then slowly sat up and looked around. Seeing that this was a special VIP ward, she swallowed a mouthful of saliva. She was so thirsty that she couldn't speak.

V immediately got up and poured her a cup of warm water. He handed it over and watched her drinking the water in big gulps.

"Why didn't you tell me you couldn't sleep well in the last month?" He asked coldly.

After drinking the water, Jennie felt much more comfortable. She raised her hand to wipe her mouth with her sleeve, purposely avoiding his question. She said softly, "How long have I slept?"

"You were sent to the hospital last night. I rushed here in the morning. The doctor gave you some sedative to calm you down. It's evening right now." V took the cup and placed it on the bedside table.

His eyes were a bit cold and he was very angry at her, but when he saw her pale face, in the end, he endured his anger. "Your vital energy is unstable, and recently, your emotions have been forcibly suppressed by you, causing you to lose sleep at night. Your mind is too weak, and you cannot receive any sort of stimulation in the short term. You have to calm down. Jennie, how did you end up like this?"

He paused, then added, "He just left."

Jennie understood who V meant by "he". She turned around and looked out the window. It was raining heavily outside, and she couldn't see the slightest bit of sunlight.

It was best for him to leave before she woke up. At least her mood didn't have to fluctuate too much.

Jennie was just an ordinary human being. No matter how strong her heart was, the wounds wouldn't heal completely in a mere month. Why did she have to force everyone to such a state?

Jennie knew that no matter how Lisa explained himself, no matter how deeply wounded she was and no matter how he tried, she would never be able to withstand those words.

Even if he tried to imitate those men in the drama who held onto the women's shoulder, shaking their heads as they shouted out to explain, 'Listen to me! Listen to me! Actually, there's a reason why I'm doing this. I'm afraid that in the future, we won't be able to calmly be together, so forgive me!', nothing will change.

Of course, she knew Lisa wouldn't say that.

Lisa would always be Lisa. He wouldn't go out of his way to explain his mistakes because a mistake is a mistake. If he could just open his mouth and cut himself clean, then it wouldn't be him.

Jennie knew that Lisa wouldn't deliberately hurt her for no reason at all. He definitely had his reasons for doing this, but that all will not be able to change the outcome for what has happened.

At this moment, her phone rang. V picked up her phone and when he saw the familiar numbers, he frowned.

Jennie turned her head to look at him. When she saw that he was about to hang up, she extended her hand and said, "Give it to me, I will answer it."

V only glanced at her. He did not intend to give her the phone.

"There has to be an end, isn't there?" Her face was haggard, but her eyes were as bright as ever.

Jennie looked at the familiar number on the phone, smiled, and picked it up. She didn't even wait for the person on the other end of the phone to open his mouth before she smiled and greeted him, "President Manoban sent me to the hospital last night and is now calling to offer his condolences. How can I be so lucky?"

"Jennie."

"Forget it, Lisa. Actually, I think it's good for us to be just friends. Now that I have a good friend like President Manoban, no matter where I am or what I do in the future, I will feel proud! You can't keep thinking that I will be sad that I need you to call me to comfort me, right? Hehe, President Manobab, there's no need for this. After meeting each other, one could become an unmarried husband and wife. After meeting each other for only two days, one could talk about marriage and go to bed for two to three months. It seemed that even if you loved me dearly, how much would you love me? That's what you think too, Lisa Manoban."

"No!"

His answer was resolute and decisive, but Jennie didn't want to continue talking about it. She tightened her grip on the phone and said quietly, "Lisa, do you know what I hate the most? I really hate pestering. Endlessly pestering."

Jennie couldn't see his expression over the phone, but that was enough. A smart person like Liaa, how could he not understand the meaning behind her words?

Love or not, this was a relationship that should not have belonged to her. She did not want to fight for it, nor did she want it anymore.

The phone was silent. Only his shallow breath could be heard, and Jennie knew that he understood it from beginning to end. She was asking for a way out and if Lisa had the slightest pity on her, he would let her go.

Jennie smiled. Perhaps the whole story, even at the end, needed a complete closure. She really wanted to see that man tear his heart out for her and lose his mind, but a woman's heart was so small. Perhaps if she waited, he could give her a reason to stay and know the sequel to the story.

Jennie silently listened to his breathing on the other end of the phone. In the phone, this was just a set of data, just a signal connected to a signal. You felt like he was getting closer, but he would never be able to get closer.

She hung up.

The cell phone screen gradually turned dark. V looked at her face as she slowly put down the phone. "Jennie."

Jennie leaned against the headboard, "V, everything is over."

V looked at her for a long time before saying, "I'm sorry."

Jennie was stunned and looked at him with amusement. "What?"

He said again, "I'm sorry."

Jennie sighed as she glanced at him sideways.

"You did that to protect me. You want my life to return to its original trajectory, and you don't want our life to be disturbed by people who don't have anything to do with us. Your original intention was for me, so why would I blame you?"

This was the first time she heard V apologize for something that actually had nothing to do with him.

However, this consolation was extremely precious to her.

This burden was too heavy. Although Jennie did not know if it was considered the end or not, it was at least the end.
