It was still raining heavily outside when she went out looking for Lisa. Since she hadn't returned for a long time, Jackson and Mei must have thought something bad had happened to her. If they ask the staff, they will definitely tell them that Lisa and her have been found together.

And that's why Jackson actually came to look for her.

Jennie gently stroked her forehead, a little worried about the situation's development. She tried to prop up herself by holding on to the edge of the bathtub, but her ankle was so swollen, and she could only take three steps forward before hissing in pain.

The sound of the door being closed was heard outside. Jennie couldn't hear Lisa's voice nor could she hear Jackson's next words. Presumably, Lisa told him to come out and talk.

After about five or six minutes, the bathroom door was pushed open and Lisa walked inside. Seeing that she was standing in front of the bathtub, he shook his head helplessly. "I told you not to move, didn't I? Why are you stubborn."

Jennie didn't say anything. She just looked at his face, only to see that there was nothing wrong with his expression. Lisa simply picked up the towel, wrapped it around her body, and carefully carried her out. He placed her on the bed and casually took the new ice bag that the staff had just brought and put it on her ankle.

Jennie thought that Jackson and Lisa probably didn't talk much, so she pulled the towel on her body and reached for her phone on the table. Just as she took her phone, she heard Lisa ask, "What's going on between you and Jackson Wang?"

Jennie stopped and pulled back her hand. She turned to look at him and saw that he was looking at her.

"He's the chief editor for our Department of Commerce," She lightly said.

"He cares about you." Lisa glanced at her again.

Jennie didn't know what Jackson had just said, but she and Jackson were indeed innocent. Seeing Lisa's meaningful expression, Jennie didn't know where to start to explain. "Two years ago, I just graduated from university when I came to this company as an intern. At that time, I was directly assigned to the Department of Commerce. Jackson was my mentor. He helped and taught me a lot. I won't be here if it weren't for him.He was a lot older than me by ten years."

Jennie looked at Lisa's unsmiling expression and asked, "I just heard him knocking on the door. What did you guys talk about?"

Lisa got up and poured a cup of tea for her. He then turned around and looked at her. "Why are you asking? Are you afraid I said something to him?"

"Nope. It's just that Brother Wang has always taken care of me. I lived in F City for four years, and even though I worked at the company for two years, I have many friends and memories there. I just don't want to hurt these friends of mine, including Brother Wang, who thinks that I'm single and has goals for me. I didn't agree to his pursuit though and I didn't have any ambiguous feelings towards him. I just didn't want you to hurt him."

Lisa nodded and said nothing.

Jennie saw that there were two plates of fruits on the table. She remembered that the fruits in Aerial Club were really delicious, and she left the club without eating much when she went to look for Lisa. She was starving now.

Jennie tried to get up to get some fruits.

"Don't move. Just say whatever you want. Your feet need to rest." Lisa immediately held her down.

She then pointed at the fruit bowl. "Fruit."

Lisa walked to the table and took the two plates of fruit. He placed it within her reach. Jennie sat up straight and took a slice of apple from the plate.

Seeing that she seemed to be quite hungry, Lisa smiled and put the hair by her cheeks behind her ears. "You didn't eat tonight?"

Jennie nodded her head while munching on the apple. "It's fine. Eating this fruit will make me full. It's late anyway."

Her phone suddenly rang. Jennie hesitated for a moment, thinking that it might be Jackson. If it was, then how could she say it without hurting him? She did not intend to hide things from him.

Looking at the time, Jackson should already have gone to sleep, so it mustn't be him. Jennie took her phone and saw it was V. She forgot to tell him that she would stay at Aerial Club tonight. No wonder he was calling her.

"Hello? V, I'm going to spend the night at the Aerial Club tonight. It's raining heavily right now and the road under the mountain is too slippery and unsafe." As soon as she answered the call, she immediately explained it before V had time to open his mouth.

"I thought something had happened to you. You never forget to call me if you come home late." V's anxious voice came from across the phone. "Stay at the Aerial Club for the night? Is it safe? Do you want me to come and pick you up?"

As she was talking, Lisa came inside the room and saw her on the phone.

"No need. The road in this mountainous area is too slippery. Climbing a mountain is no different than going down by car. The road is too steep. Don't worry about me. You rest early." Jennie said while holding the phone.

Lisa stopped walking towards the French window when he heard her words. He looked back at her and asked in a low voice, "Is it V?"

Jennie nodded and was about to hang up when Lisa walked over and took her phone. She was stunned for a moment as she watched his actions.

Jennie saw Lisa put her phone by his ear. She didn't know what V had said on the phone, but all she heard was Lisa saying, "Don't worry, she's with me."

Jennie immediately stopped chewing the apple. V must have said something as she watched Lisa raise his eyebrows. "Spring Festival is near, you don't plan to return to H City?"

After that, the phone went silent for a long time, then V said something again. Jennie couldn't hear what he said clearly. She could only stare at Lisa's face as he answered the phone.

V was, after all, the child of the Manoban Family, and was once her brother. Now, Lisa and V were talking about something, and she didn't know the content of the conversation. Everything was out of her control.

"Well, you'd better think it through." Lisa said this again into the phone before hanging up.

After a moment, Lisa looked at her, "I have ordered someone to prepare dinner. Someone will bring it later, so don't eat the fruit too much. Otherwise, you will be full later."

Jennie put down the apple, "V, he --"

"You don't need me to tell you. You already know the relationship between V and the Manoban Family." Lisa put the phone down beside her and took the fruit bowl in her hand. "This is the biggest legacy problem in the past 20 years. In those 20 years, there have been many affairs taking place between officials and business people, and almost all of them are women. Whether it is your mother or V's mother, they were both victims of a tragedy from that era."

"At least, after grandpa and dad found him, they want to give him a home and mom won't hurt him." Jennie suddenly laughed.
