V said nothing, just looked at her with a calm expression. Seeing her serious eyes and expression, he couldn't hold back a smile. "Explain what?"

"Do you want me to be clearer?" Jennie looked at him coldly.

V got up and took the banana from the fruit basket. He peeled the skin and patiently gave it to her. "Why don't you drink this chicken soup? Is it because you have no appetite? Why don't you eat this fruit first while I go out to buy light fried rice and vegetables for you?"

Jennie just looked at him. When she saw his indifference, she didn't force him anymore. She took the banana but didn't eat it. She just held it in her hand and sat on the bed, thinking.

Actually, there were many things that she would rather have guessed wrongly or thought wrongly. From her point of view, at least, she didn't want any of this to have anything to do with V.

Jennie preferred to believe that V will forever be the brother she once trusted, a child who was clean, pure, kind, and bright. Until now, she preferred him to be a modest and frank man, with not much revenge hidden in the depths of his heart. She hoped that he had absolutely nothing to do with the incident at the ancestral hall that night.

Jennie lowered her head and didn't look at the smile on his face. She immediately vented her anger on the banana by biting it hard. However, V suddenly pulled the banana from her hand.

She looked at him in surprise, only to hear V say while eating her banana. "I almost forgot, you just woke up. Eating bananas on an empty stomach is not good for your stomach. Why don't you drink the chicken soup first?"

Jennie's attention was successfully distracted by him, but in her heart, she was furious.

This damned brat!

"This bottle of medicine is almost done. I'll go get a nurse." V was very familiar with her personality. He knew that Jennie was scolding him in her heart, so he took the opportunity to leave the ward with a smile on his face.

Jennie could only sit on the bed and gritted her teeth while watching him leave the room.

After a while, the nurse came in and changed the medicine bottle. Meanwhile, V held the medical alcohol wool on the back of Jennie's hand for about a minute before he glanced at her and said, "You don't have to be so attentive to me. No one knows you better than me in this world."

Jennie pushed him as hard as she could. However, since she had just woken up and had not eaten, she didn't have much strength to push him away, "Release me now. You don't need to press it anymore!"

"You think you know me very well?" V didn't move, still pressing the back of her hand. He lowered his eyes and spoke in a low voice that only she could hear.

Jennie was stunned as she looked at the side of his face. His face was similar to Lisa's, but she could clearly tell that they were completely different.

V slowly raised his eyes and looked at her calmly. He immediately released her hand and retreated a few steps back, but his gaze was still glued to her face.

Jennie looked at his eyes and gradually found it hard to believe. "You ..."

V suddenly smiled, as if he wasn't the one looking at her with that solemn gaze from before. He raised his hand to caress her arm, "Don't let your thoughts go wild. Women who think too much will grow old quickly!"

"This chicken soup is a bit cold. I'll ask the cafeteria staff to heat it up before you eat it." With that, he took the thermos on the table and left the ward again.

"Why did the ancestral hall collapse?" As he was about to leave the ward, Jennie suddenly spoke up.

V's footsteps suddenly froze.

Jennie's eyes gradually became misty as she stared at the man she once relied on to support her life, the brother she wanted to protect for her whole life. Her eyes were glued to his stiff back.

"Say it! V, why did the ancestral hall collapse! Dad and grandpa said that more than a week ago, there was only a small gap in the roof of the ancestral hall. So, how can that solid wall mysteriously collapse?"

V was silent, not saying anything, but his grip on the thermos tightened.

Jennie bit her lip and said, "Now, only you and I are here, I need your explanation! Tell me clearly! Why did the ancestral hall collapse? Why were you there? If I were not about to die and almost buried, you wouldn't save me right?"

"V, tell me, why were you there? Since you wanted revenge, why don't you bury me too and let me die with you! Anyway, I am now also part of the Manoban Family, and one of the people you hated!"

Seeing that he was not moving, Jennie became furious. She suddenly lifted the white blanket from her body and got out of bed. However, as she took two steps from the bed, her legs became soft due to a lack of strength.

Hearing the sound behind him, V turned around and saw Jennie holding the bed iron. He hurriedly walked towards her. "What are you doing? Didn't I tell you not to move? Go back to bed."

Jennie seized the opportunity to grab his wrist. She looked at him with her bloodshot eyes. "Later on when you went to save the Old Man, mom and dad were already there. The Old Man couldn't think too much about it, you are his biological grandson after all. He will not think that you have anything to do with the collapse of the ancestral hall. Mom and dad just saw you carried me out but they didn't know what was going on, but I did! Even though I was knocked unconscious, my consciousness was still very clear!"

V didn't shake off her hand. He only held her, but the hand on her shoulder became tighter and tighter.

"Why?" Seeing him silent, Jennie suddenly felt sad because she knew he didn't want to lie to her. The coldness in her eyes gradually melted, leaving only disbelief in her voice, "V, why did you do that?"

V pursed his lips. He suddenly picked her up by the waist and placed her on the bed gently without saying anything.

After covering her once again with the blanket, he smiled and said, "If I can answer everything with a few words and reasons, then the world will no longer be the same. There are many reasons that cannot be explained."

"You!" Jennie was about to get up, but V pushed her down.

"Rest well, I will bring this chicken soup to the hospital cafeteria. After that, I will ask Chitthip to get it. I will not bother you again." He walked out of the room without looking back.

"V! V! Stop right there!"

It was clear that he didn't want Jennie to be involved in this matter. However, this made her heart ache. Her once brother had become a completely different person. He no longer was the V she knew back then.

What did V want to do? What had he got to do with the collapse of the ancestral hall? Why didn't he explain to her!

Jennie thought that V's return to the Manoban Family was a good thing for him. She thought that he wanted to get to know his ancestors and that he will gradually get used to living in the the Family. Jennie naively thought, gradually, everything will be better.

Was it because she thought things were too simple and fate decided to prove it wrong to her?

But she didn't want to believe that V, who had grown up so well in front of her, had become someone else.
