When Jennie woke up, it was dawn. She set the alarm clock at 3 am because she wanted to fly to G City to visit her mother's grave before 8 am, but when she looked at the time, it was already at 6 am. It was early spring, the weather was very sunny outside, and the weather today looked very good.
The darkroom began to be illuminated by sunlight. Jennie put her hand in front of her eyes, and as she turned around, she found Lisa had already gone.
Jennie looked at the cold spot beside her for a long time before she regained her senses. She stretched out her hand and caressed the place where Lisa had slept.
Jennie remembered her dream last night. Lisa was covered in blood, and she couldn't grab onto him, couldn't even touch him. She screamed as she caught up to his footsteps, but she could never reached him no matter what.
It was said that the mood of pregnant women was unstable and sometimes they will experience nightmares that will disturb their emotions. However, this dream was too real. It was so real and scary that she still felt a lingering fear.
After staring blankly for a moment, she hurriedly got up from the bed and ran out of her bedroom. Lisa had promised to accompany her back to G City. Why did he disappear so early in the morning?
Jennie was about to put on her clothes and go out when the door opened from the outside.
Lisa was already wearing his well-dressed black shirt and black cotton pants. His short hair was clean and fluffy. He was naturally handsome. Just a glance from him immediately made her feel at ease.
"You're awake?" Seeing Jennie standing in front of the door, Lisa slowly closed the door and gave her the breakfast he had just bought. "You had a nightmare last night and just fell asleep a few hours ago. I didn't want to wake you at 3 am because I wanted you to sleep more. Don't worry, I already called the airline and because it was raining heavily, the plane we booked last night was an hour late and still had not taken off."
Jennie's heart finally stopped beating so fast. She immediately opened her mouth and smiled. She took the tray of food and put it on the tea table.
Lisa walked over as he frowned, "Are you alright? You look so anxious just now, like the sky is about to collapse on you."
"It's nothing. I had some nightmares last night, and haven't recovered from them yet." Jennie pouted her lips as she silently cursed herself for being childish.
Lisa raised his pretty eyebrows and chuckled, "What nightmare? About me?"
Jennie felt a pang of discomfort as she thought about the scene in her dream. She turned her head and glared at him. "You're asking me to dream about you? Who do you think you are? Hurry up and eat breakfast. After eating, we can go to G City. If we go early, we can go home early too. I don't want to delay your work."
Lisa only smiled and said no more.
Since there were not many cars on the road in the early morning, their journey was very fast and they arrived at the airport before the plane took off. Jennie's heart finally felt relieved after she quickly passed the security and boarded the plane.
Although it was later than she had expected, it was still not early in the morning. At least she could still avoid meeting familiar people at the cemetery.
The drizzle dropped little by little. Jennie held a handful of chrysanthemums in her hand. She was wearing a long white dress and a black coat. Lisa had a bag of some items for her to sweep the grave in one hand, while his other hand held an umbrella over their heads.
The two of them slowly walked into the cemetery on the western edge of G City. Jennie can only visit this place once a year on certain days because it was too remote and too hidden.
Seeing Lisa quietly accompanying her, Jennie smiled and turned to look at him, "Lis, looking at this cemetery, do you think that Jihoon is too heartless towards my mother?"
Lisa said nothing. He simply switched the umbrella to his other hand and hugged her gently.
Jennie continued to laugh as she looked around, "Do you know where this cemetery is? This place is a place where prisoners from the first and second prisons in G City are buried after being shot dead. This place looks very organized, but he is willing to put my mother with these bunch of criminals in order not to attract attention."
"Usually, no one dares to come here, other than the families of the dead who sometimes come here. Since this place is too quiet and too remote, how many people are willing to clean the graves of cursed people? So usually, only two grandfathers in the mailroom outside the cemetery clean the place."
"Every year at this time, V and I gather to sweep my mother's grave." Jennie chuckled. "But starting this year, he may not come again. His mother is still alive and waiting for him. My mother has died for more than 20 years."
As soon as she finished speaking, Jennie suddenly stopped in her tracks. She stared blankly at the upright figure standing in front of Chaerin's tombstone.
Lisa halted his steps at the same time as well. Both of them stared at the silhouette with an indifferent expression.
That person felt two pairs of eyes on him. He slowly turned his head around and silently looked at them.
Jennie pursed her lip. Lisa let go of the hand that wrapped around her shoulder and held her hand. At the same time, he led her towards the grave. "Senior Zhou."
Senior Zhou nodded and looked at Lisa with a pleased expression. Then, he turned his gaze towards Jennie, who was holding a handful of chrysanthemums. "Child, it's been hard on you."
Jennie remained silent. After pausing for a moment, she gently placed the flower in her hand in front of the tombstone, ignoring Senior Zhou's gaze as she slowly bent down. Lisa also bowed to Chaerin's tombstone, paying his respect.
Jennie wasn't trying to escape from the Zhou Family. She was just numb to everything that had happened to her mother and everything that had happened to her before. Her mother, like her, had never really been in contact with the Zhou Family since childhood.
However, Senior Zhou can actually find her mother here. It can be seen that Senior Zhou really cared about his daughter. At this time, Jennie couldn't say anything. She just stepped back and leaned into Lisa's arm. "Let's go."
"I went to the Kim Family and heard that Nancy had been locked up for several months. Jihoon and Lian begged me. They begged me to help them save their daughter." Senior Zhou suddenly spoke.
Jennie halted her steps and raised her head abruptly. In the blink of an eye, she glanced at Lisa, who was also lightly raising his brows.
Lisa squeezed her hand, signaling for her not to worry, then looked back at Senior Zhou, who was standing calmly. "Senior Zhou, are you planning to intervene in the Kim Family problem?"
"No." Senior Zhou looked at Lisa and slowly walked over. "I only have a general idea of what they did to my daughter, but I need Jennie to explain to me what had happened and why her mother committed suicide. The Kim Family still don't know that Chaerin is my daughter and still relying on our relationship all these years to ask me for this help."
Senior Zhou then looked at Jennie. After thinking for a moment, he said seriously, "Child, it's alright if you don't want to recognize me. How about this... You tell me the truth, and I will help you seek revenge."
