Jennie was stunned for a moment by his question to her. She didn't know how to answer it. She only hesitated for a moment before she said, "I just accompanied dad and Lisa happened to go back to Manoban Enterprise to meet with some board members."

"Oh? Not because you want to meet with someone special?" He asked.

"Someone special?" Jennie played dumb and laughed, "What special person? Aren't the people here all foreigners? How special can they be? Besides, there are a lot of Asians here, so it's not that inconvenient to speak the language. Don't worry about me ~"

Jennie laughed and quickly changed the topic, "V, haven't you met with some leaders of the organization recently? From what grandpa said, the work that Lisa and dad arranged for you seems good enough. In which department do you work? Since you just started, you can't continue to be at the top, but you can get there in less than a year, right?"

V replied faintly. "Yes, for now."

"That's good. Since you are willing to live a stable life in H City, then I am relieved."

Jennie thought again and felt that she should say something. She said softly. "V, we must let go of the things of the past generations. Live in the present and do not let yourself suffer. Don't force yourself to the point of despair where no one can help you."

There was a long silence at the end of the line. Then, V said mockingly, "Jennie, you don't understand me at all."

Jennie remained silent. That's right, she once thought that she understood this little brother, but now, she realized that she really did not.

"Let's make an analogy and compare it with our hearts. Can you really forget the problems of the previous generation you are talking about? I mean, if the perpetrator who forced your mother to die or made your mother crazy is the Manoban Family, what would you do? Can you still get along well with Lisa? Can you still get close and share the same bed with him?"

V's cold voice penetrated Jennie's bones directly from the phone.

"You ... You already know about it? "She was shocked.

V already knew that his mother had gone crazy.

But when did he know? How come she never knew he had so many secrets? As his elder sister, she was still unclear about all of this.

"Jennie, don't just stand there and be silent. Answer my question! No matter what you think about me now, I have never changed. Either the relationship between brother and sister or ..." V stopped, as if he didn't want to make things difficult for her, and continue. "I just hope one day, you will not be hurt."

Hurt?

This had nothing to do with her, so what harm would she suffer?

What V meant was that sooner or later, he would fall out with the Manoban Family, and she would be in a dilemma. Was this the kind of harm he was talking about?

However, from V's tone, it seemed like he was talking about different things.

"V?" Jennie called his name doubtfully.

The other side stopped talking. She could only hear the steady breathing and couldn't help but to clench the phone tightly. "What exactly do you know? Tell me. Whether it's to your mother or my mother, I want to know the truth. If you do know something about it, don't hide it from me!"

"You don't want to know the truth." He hung up the phone after speaking indifferently.

"V? Hello? V!"

A long "beep" came from the phone. Jennie looked down at the disconnected phone and called him again, but she couldn't get through.

She gritted her teeth with hatred. Since she can't call that brat, she decided to send a text message and wait for his reply. Jennie sent a lot of messages and the last message was to ask about the meaning of what he had just said.

After sending the message, she stared at her phone in a daze before looking at the crystal necklace on her hand from time to time.

Gradually, a string of memories flashed past her mind, but she didn't grab hold of it. It only lasted for a moment, causing her almost to guess what it was. However, because she couldn't grasp hold of that feeling, she became even more confused.

They arrived at the sanitarium in the evening. Lisa opened the door of the passenger seat and helped Jennie get out of the car. He then held her hands before closing the door.

When Jennie saw Marco got out of the car in front of her, she immediately took her hand away, a little embarrassed with their intimate gesture. She looked at Marco and smiled.

Even after so long, she still felt a sense of alienation towards her father-in-law. Even though he had stopped asking her to divorce because of the child in her womb, he usually looked too serious and didn't have any good feelings towards her. But this time, when Jennie greeted him, he turned his head and looked at her, nodding with a mild expression.

"The sanatorium is very far away and surrounded by American farms. Don't wander around, especially you, with such a big belly. You don't need to follow us. I asked Lisa to make a call in advance and arrange a room for you. If you are tired, go rest."

It was rare for Marco to say something like that to her. Jennie's heart immediately felt warm. She smiled and said, "Dad, I'm not tired. Walking while pregnant is good for my health."

"Alright then." Marco didn't want to say more, so he just nodded. With his hands behind his back, he walked under doctors' guidance and nurses who came out to greet him.

His expression was very dignified; the nurses and doctors in the nursing home were very familiar with him. This nursing home must be the property of the Manoban Family.

"Is this sanatorium owned by the Manoban Family?" She took this opportunity to ask Lisa.

Lisa smiled without saying a word, but it could be considered as a tacit agreement.

Jennie scratched her forehead and muttered under her breath, "Just how deep is the foundation of your Family? Don't tell me you're just being cunning?"

Her original intention was to joke around, but Lisa remained silent and replied after a while, "Who knows."

"Look at you, why are you so serious? I'm just joking!" Jennie was always quick to react. "Anyway, this is a problem of the previous generation. I don't know how grandpa and dad are going to deal with these things, and I also don't know if V's mother can be cured."

"Some things were originally irreparable mistakes." Lisa looked at her deeply. "Since you are wrong, you have to think of other ways to redeem it, like what dad has been doing to mom."

Jennie giggled. "Wasn't it because of a mistake that you were able to meet me back then? Aiya, let's not talk about this, is dad going to see Auntie Jia now? Can we go and meet her too?"

"We can't go over for the time being." Lisa's face slightly sunk as he said seriously, "I've already received medical records from the sanatorium. Jia's hysteria has been afflicting her for more than 20 years. In these years, she has been in a crazed state, even becoming violent, and no one can get close to her without being harmed. I heard that her mood had improved a lot in the last two days, but I'm not sure if dad can get close to her."

The meaning behind his words was that in Jia's current state, even a strong man would be at risk of injury. Not to mention a pregnant woman like Jennie, so of course, she could not approach her casually.

Jennie was a little disappointed, but she also knew that she should not take the risk. She just smiled and nodded, "Then let's wait for the news from dad. I really want to see her and talk about V. Maybe she'll wake up because of her son."

Lisa pulled Jennie to his chest and rested his forehead against hers. A warm breath brushed against her cheek. He gently pinched her face and said with a smile, "Wife, I'm jealous."

"What?" Jennie froze.

"You once said that V is the only pillar in your life. If he wasn't here, you might be starving to death, or you may lose the desire to live. What about now?" Lisa asked with a slight smile, but his eyes filled with deep seriousness.
