Evans pov:
I woke up in an unfamiliar place without knowing how I got there or where exactly I was. As I stood from the bed to look around I saw two doors to the right of the bed and a door to the bottom of the bed. I decided to check the doors to the right and found a bathroom and wardrobe. I decided to get cleaned up and changed into the clothes that were left in the huge bathroom. Afterwards, I headed for the door to I'm guessing the rest of whatever house this is.
"Welcome to my home Evan, did you sleep well?" I heard the voice of Barty the kind man from last night. His smile was beautiful and even though I would never try to date someone that far out of my league he was perfect.
"Hi um yeah I did sleep well just confused about how I got here as I don't remember anything," I told him as I tried to put the memories into place.
"Oh, you started to fall behind me while we were walking here to get the car. So I decided to pick you up as you looked super tired and you almost instantly fell asleep in my arms. I didn't wanna disturb you so I put you in one of my spare rooms to rest." he explained I kind of recall the falling behind part as I was super tired after working a 12-hour shift two days in a row.
"Thanks, I guess I owe you for helping me twice now. I'll head home now thank you for everything." I told him with a smile and saw a hesitancy in his eyes.
"Look, you probably work 10 or 12-hour shifts most days then have to walk a long while home and still can't afford even a taxi fare home. So I was thinking what if you stay here and I'll pay you as long as you keep the house clean and tidy?" he asked and I was considering it as he is right I'm working minimum wage and still can't afford anything.
"Okay but what do you get out of this deal?" I asked curious as to what he wanted from this situation. He quickly led me into a room that I'm assuming is his and let me sit on the edge of the bed.
"Look I'm going to sound completely insane and you can take time to think about all of this. So I'm a vampire and don't say they don't exist as I know you saw those two guys' eyes flash gold last night so don't say it's not real. Anyway as a vampire, I have a mate or soulmate if you prefer and we can track them through their scent as it is intoxicating to us, they look perfect to us and we just know similar to love at first sight. What I'm trying to say is that you are my mate Evan and even though I don't get anything physical I'll be able to be around you and that's enough." He finished hoping I would understand and I couldn't deny that he was right I did see their eyes flash and see long teeth like wolves.
"Can I have a week to process everything then I'll let you know?" I asked earning a nod from Barty before he smiled at me softly.
*Timeskip*
It's the end of the week and I have been miserable I want to be around Barty. I never knew I could miss someone so much but I do as every moment he's the only thing that occupies my thoughts and it's awful. I decided I would agree to his terms as I have nothing to lose at this point. I've just finished a 10-hour shift and exited the cafe to walk home when I saw a dark shadow approach me. As I watched the shadow get closer I started to feel safe which caused me to smile.
"Hey Barty, everything alright?" I questioned knowing instantly who it was as I'd never felt safe with anyone before until he carried me to his home.
"I'm quite alright Evan just decided to come to get you since the week has finished," he told me and I smiled at him knowing he would come to get me to ensure I was safe.
"Well my answer is yes I'll stay with you as I feel safe with you and I've never felt like that before not even with my parents," I told him causing his eyes to soften and he kissed my cheek before leading me to the car park to the side of the building where he had parked. He brought me home or to his home where I'll be safe and protected by him.
