Umbratonic (Part 3)

For the final round, the final duo was required to perform a duet. Nagkasundo kami ni Klavier sa kakantahin kaya naisumite rin naman agad sa organizers.

I don't know what's gotten into them but were they really serious with one-day practice? It's like we're jam-packed for that one day kasi Thursday na agad ang finals! Lalo na nang nalaman kong live performance iyon kaya may bandang tutugtog talaga para sa amin! Does it mean they're also affected with that cramming part? Of course! That's why I'm asking for a general rehearsal but for some reason, Klavier was against it.

"Why? Ayaw mo bang mag-practice tayo nang magkasama? May backing band pa," I asserted, trying to put some sense to him.

Nasa Neverland kami at bukas na agad ang Umbratonic. Hanggang ngayon, gulantang pa rin ako dyan sa isang raw na ensayo, ha! Hindi makatarungan! Buti sana kung hindi duet o kaya given na ang piece, e. Para may heads up na kami una pa lang at nasabay na kuno sa practice namin individually! They're driving me nuts! Dagdag pa itong lalaking ito!

"We can practice here. I'll check upon you," tanging sagot niya.

Napailing ako at humalukipkip. "Ayaw mo ngang i-practice na natin 'yung duet part, e. What's your problem?"

Medyo iritado na ako sa totoo lang. Hindi ko malaman kung anong pinaglalaban niya at bakit ayaw niyang i-practice namin iyon! Kanina pa ako nakanta at tinutulungan niya ako sa parts ko pero kapag sa kanya o iyong duet namin, ayaw!

In return, Klavier just leaned on his seat and crossed his legs, looking more authoritative and adamant compared to his figure a while ago with just arms crossed against his chest while criticizing me.

"Gusto kong tutukan ang iyo. Can't I do that?"

Napairap ako. "Wala ka bang tiwala sa galing ko? Marami akong trophies! Wala na nga lang kasi winasak ko. But-"

"You what?" putol niya sa akin, napukaw ang pansin sa nabanggit ko.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes again. "Nevermind!"

"Why did you do that to your trophies?"

He's sounding alarmed this time. Umiling na lang ako at hindi na inenganyo pa ang tanong niya.

"Ayaw mo talaga mag-duet ngayon? Kahit isang pasada lang?" lihis ko sa usapan.

"Michaela," he warned.

Napailing na lang ulit ako. Hindi ko sasagutin 'yon! Gusto ko na lang na ibaon iyon sa limot. May parte kasi sa akin na... nagsisisi. So stupid.

Lumapit na lang ako sa executive table sa harap ng blackboard at doon sumampa. I crouched and crossed my arms like a mad toddler being hard on her daddy.

"Pero kayo ni Fribella, okay lang na duet." I glared at him. "May kiss pa."

He released both his arms and legs, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees.

"May kiss ka rin naman," he claimed casually.

I blushed. "Wala naman duet."

Now I'm positive I'm acting like a seven-year-old brat deprived from her target toy in a store.

"Bukas meron tayong duet." Klavier simpered.

I groaned when I learned what he's doing. He's mimicking me! Goodness!

Hindi na ako nagpumilit pa kaya ang resulta, naging mentor and mentee session iyon kalaunan. Natapos ang araw na may kaonting tampo ako.

Totoo naman kasi. Bakit ayaw niyang i-practice nang maayos? He's not cooperating! He didn't want us to duet but he approved when it's Fribella!
