Comeback

"I'm not really sure about this, honey," dudang iling ni Mommy nang ihatid na ako sa foyer.

Samantalang si Daddy, nakapamulsa lang na nakamasid sa amin. Tahimik ngunit puno rin ng paninimbang ang mga mata.

Napabuga ako ng hangin. Lalo na nang nahuli ko si Mommy na sumisilip sa labas at dismayadong napapailing.

"What are you worrying about? It's not as if I've never done this before. Hindi ba kayo masaya na babalik na ako sa Damgeen?" sarkastiko kong wika. "And I thought you want me to be friends with him? What's with the sudden change of heart?"

"Michaela!" Daddy roared, ending his stoic demeanor. "Where's your manners? We're just worrying about your safety and condition! Isn't valid? Plus, we have our own driver for you so I don't see the need for that guy."

I almost rolled my eyes. This is very not the side they're taking before. When will we ever meet halfway with our life decisions for my... life?

Kapuwa sila napatingin sa likuran ko kaya napabaling na rin ako doon. Gosh. They looked aggravated.

"Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Maddison," Jackson greeted politely.

Hindi na ata nakatiis at pumasok na. I sighed to myself and just gave my parents a quick kiss on each. Hindi na rin naman sila nakapagsalita ngunit hindi pa rin naglalaho ang babala sa mga titig.

"Hindi ko po pababayaan si Michaela," Jackson added before we go.

Napataas ako ng kilay ngunit nilagpasan ko na lang siya at nauna na sa kanyang sasakyan. He stalked me from behind and jogged to open the door for me.

"You see, I'm just mentally impaired but not physically disabled," I fired to him sarcastically.

Rave Jackson laughed. "You see, you can just get in?"

Napailing ako. "You're not hitting on me."

"That's a poor observation." He smirked.

Napairap na lang ako at pumasok na rin sa loob. He slammed the door on my side before drumming his hands on the car hood while crossing the way to the driver's side.

Hindi rin naman nagtagal at tumulak na kami patungo sa Damgeen. After almost two days of convincing me, Jackson managed to get in my nerves that all I could do was to give up so he'd finally grant me my peace. Though I doubted it. Going back to Damgeen after almost three weeks would definitely spoil the peace.

To tell you the truth, it's not just all about Jackson's perseverance that made me go back to school. I had a share of decision. I pondered about it a lot. I just wanted to have a break from all of it and several weeks did enough magic for me.

"It's almost a month ago but students are still engrossed about what happened," Jackson opened up, breaking the silence.

Iyon pa lang pero ramdam ko agad ang pagod na maaari kong makaharap mamaya. Napahilig ako sa upuan at napatanaw na lang sa labas ng bintana.

"Guess whose idea is that. Clue, he's a shameless arrogant lunatic who likes putting his snoopy, stubby, runny nose in my business."

I heard him chuckle. "Well, that's too specific to the nose, I could imagine me sniffing you."

I groaned in annoyance. I picked up the tissue dispenser in front of me and threw at him. But Jackson being a screwball that he was, he only gave out a derisive laugh and I was starting to think that letting him accompany me was an awful idea.
